Second opinion

I sent my records to my friend who is a nurse in oncology radiology at Duke. The doctor she works with (somewhat famous) agreed to look over my case for no charge. He's been really busy, but finally had a chance to go over it. He decided to present it at their conference meeting next Tuesday. So I'll get the benefit of a great full team of doctors at Duke having input into my second opinion! I'm so happy my friend offered to do this for me - it is fantastic. Hopefully I'll have some idea of what they recommend next week.

I've agreed to do 4 rounds of FOLFIRI and Avastin followed by another scan with my oncologist. I agreed with jumping on things to get it under control and avoid more spread. So far with my CEA dropping more than half (from 12 to 5.4) after just one treatment, I'm expecting a normal CEA and possibly a clear scan at that point. But I do NOT want to count on the cancer being gone, as I did after clear scans and good CEA after FOLFOX. I want to do something to remove or destroy the three lymph nodes that showed cancer. Then I'd be willing to consider continuing with more rounds of chemo just in case, but I'm not sure how many?

I guess I just need to sit tight and wait for the opinion from Duke, and take it from there. FOLFIRI #3 tomorrow.

    Sounds like a good opportunity
    Kathryn,

This sounds like a good opportunity + the price is right! Good luck with this.
