Hi Ladies,
I am in a panic about my upcoming carbo-doxil combo. I was told that I did not need ice packs, yet I see many patients do use them. Any info.? I also saw that Doxil may give you incorrect high CA125 numbers? GREAT! I also read the side effects are worse when they add another chemo. GREAT, again! I'm sure looking forward to the holidays as a bald blistered blob! Ginny

    Doxil
    Good Morning-
I will have my 5th round of Doxil Monday, Oct. 25th. No other chemo was added to my regiment. This is my 3rd type of chemo. My CA went up after the first round and then
decreased after the 2nd cycle and then again with the 3rd cycle. I did read the Doxil web page and followed their instructions of using ice packs before, during and after the treatment. I experienced a great deal of pain after treatment, but that's typical for me. The ice packs seem to keep the red/hands feet to a minimum. Also, using a great lotion and keeping socks on at night after applying lotion helped too. After the 4th round ( just like clockwork) I developed the mouthsores. Certainly not the worst thing in the world, just makes food intake a bit difficult. Using straws and eating bland, cold foods helped. They are just beginning to heal as I approach Monday!! I used the Magic Mouthwash/prescription form but had a negative reaction from that. Orajel, applying vitamin E capsules, and rinsing with cold water and ice chips helped.

I'm hoping for two more treatments, good luck with yours. This chemo is manageable for me.
I hope the Doxil-carbo combination is successful for you and the side effects are minimal.
    Good luck.
