How can a CT miss something?? Or how can something grow in 3 weeks?? I am soo confused. Chris has been extremly sick since last Sat. Horrible headache, body aches, and just in alot of pain. Went to the onc thurs and his CEA is 18.. went from 1.8 a month ago.. what can all this mean? Loves and Thanks. |

No answers Just prayers
Dear Mel,
So very sorry to hear that Chris is not feeling well.
Take a deep breath and work with his doctors to find out the cause.
While the rise in CEA is troubling, wait for more definative information.
I can only imagine how difficult this is for you both, but hang in there. Prayers and good thoughts a plenty are heading your way.

I'm sorry that Chris is feeling so poorly. I hope that the doctors can take care to make him feel better soon. So sorry that his CEA has gone up but the good news is that if nothing is showing on the CT and if there is something to catch it's been caught early so that is a good thing. My onc said that if the CEA is a good indicator for a patient that it will catch things before they are large enough to show on the scans and it's like having a headstart on things. I hope that his CEA is just up for some other reason. Remember that it will rise because of other things too like inflammations. Even a silly cold or flu could cause a rise. Take a deep breath and hang in there. I am sending out the best wishes to you both.

Mel,
I am so sorry that Chris is feeling so bad. I can imagine that you are quite worried and I know that is an understatement. It sounds like the docs will get right on this and you will get some answers soon. I'll say prayers for both of you.

Kathleen

if my memory serves me correctly...
Chris is also a tobacco user, correct? That can also contribute to a rising CEA - as can an infection, like you mention. Does he have any signs of an infection?
Please check in with us after the appointment tomorrow. Prayers and good vibes are coming your way,

Tashina, Yes he does chew
Tashina,
Yes he does chew good point. His whole body hurts especially a horrible pain in his chest. He wakes up feeling ok but by mid day he is flat in bed and cant pop out of it. Thats the hard thing about cancer, you always worry that everything is related. even if its a simple cold..lol I will def check in monday.. thanks so much

I hope you were able to
I hope you were able to consult with the doctor and that your husband is feeling better. Every time my husband isn't feeling well in the back of my mind I wonder... Is it growing...spreading? That is the awful thing about cancer.
Thinking about you and hoping for good news for both of you.

Long day at the Dr... and
Long day at the Dr... and dont know much! Not his port, not side effects from taking him off coumadin. This is our plan, going to do some xray to make sure no new blood clots( they took him off coumadin 3 weeks ago after over a yr), do a bone scan(he is complaining of alot of pain in his bones), and a brain scan( has had a headache for 9 days now and says his head feels cloudy) His Dr seems to think this is all simple precaution, that after clear scans in Sept it could not be back this quick. So I guess I have some relief but wish he felt better. He has only been up for 3 hrs today. Has zero motivation and is always tired... Man I wish we could just wish our loves ones well :)
Thanks for all your support

Mel
