13 year Breast cancer suvivor

I am currently a 13 year Breast cancer suvivor I took the attitude
you take the cards you are dealt in life and tht you can't change your
life cards like you can your cards whwn you are playing poker. when
you are playing poker you wwtn to exchange your cards to get a better
hand so you can win the pot in the middle you can't do that with your
life cards although you would like to. I am also praying for those
newly diagnosed and those currently undergoing breast cancer treatment
I am grateful God has given these 13 years of being cancer free. there
were two times when he could have said Donna I want you home with me
but didn't because he knew my mom would need me later which she did I
lost her a year ago to ovarian cancer. althrough out my cancer treatment
I had positive attitude and still have it.

    Dear Auntie,

    It sure is nice to hear from a long term survivor like you who has been cancer free for so many years! I want to walk in your footsteps. When I am 13 years out, I want to give hope to the "newbies" by being an example like you, to show, "see, there is a quality life after cancer." Thank you for posting.

    I'd like to hear from more survivors, veterans, warriors, and Pinks who have made it for many years cancer-free.... Are you out there? Can we get to where you are?

    Hello,I have been coming to this site for the last 6-8months.I am a 18-year breast cancer survivor.At the time of my diagnosis this illness was not so common in India(where I live).Two weeks after my mastectomy while searching for a prosthesis i came across a very calm and serene lady who said she was a 13-year survivor.I remember that moment because I felt as if a tight knot in my chest was released and I could breathe easily!!
    Life took a turn again last year when our 30year old son was detected to have stomach cancer.He is well now and we are learning again to take each day as it comes.
    I love the spirit of the girls on this site and what a great support group this is.
    I love the hills and in the last few years I have taken to trekking.I am leaving for a trek to the Garhwal Himalayas with a group of 8 friends.This gives me time to connect with myself and my surroundings.Each trek in the Himalayas keeps me going for the next few years.I will remember you all when i am there. Nisha

    so happy to hear good news
    As I recover from my masectomy and stress about everything, its so nice to hear from those who have made it through. I am praying for relief from my anxiety while I try to be more positive. thanks, ann

    I have survived my first
    I have survived my first breast cancer on the left for 17 years, of course then I got it on the other side, a whole new primary, so I hope that gives you guys some hope. My kids were 3 years and 8 months old, now they are 17 and 19. and although the clock is ticking on the new cancer, the old one is going strong. !!!
    Oh yes my friend who I have talked to through all of this is 20 years, 5cm tumor 2 nodes, 2 children after, and still going strong!!!!

    I almost made it. I had Stage 3A in 1987 and then had a 22 year remssion. Had a recurrence, bone mets, in 2009. But I'm planning on at least another 23 years!

    As I've posted before....
    Over 5 years on the rectal, 4 years on the breast...NO SIGN of reoccurance, altho I am checked years with scans/mammos, etc...

    All of us newbies love, love, love your survival stories. Survival is not even the right word--I'd call it more--THRIVER stories. Thanks, Auntie--you certainly brightened my day and I'm sure lots of others. And thanks to all you other ladies who have posted your "Thriver" stories.

I guess there is always the yen with the yang. So it's good we can all share the good news along with the bad news along this journey.

    9 Years Cancer Free as of Sept 14th!
    And found out that life can still be rough even when you get through a cancer diagnoses. Not only have I fought and beat BC, I have a child that has Down syndrome, a child that is autisic and a father who has recently been diagnosed with terminal Esophageal cancer.

    I keep my attitude of gratitude pointed upward to the one that has sustained me and continues to carry me. I'm extremely grateful for all that I have and though it's hard, I always remind myself someone else has it worse off than I!

    Aunt 45+ years
    My aunt had a radical mastectomy w/cobalt treatments over 45 years ago. She remains cancer free in her other breast w/no recurrences. She is 85 years old.

    I'm working on 3 years for IDC, double mastectomy, no other treatment. 21 years for Hodgkins Lymphoma.

    please continue to post. Recently we have experienced a lot of recurrences and very resistant types of cancer. I am personaly 26 months out of stage IIIC.
