Ran across this tonight. October begins the onslaught of pinkness with breast cancer awareness month. For many of us the pink ribbons start making us queasy. "The Scar Project" is a book of young bc survivors showing their scars, their determination and their kick cancer a$$ attitude. "The Scar Project" has a page on facebook that I would encourage to go check out. I just paroused the pictures and was deeply moved. The photographer will have a showing of the pics in NY. Proceeds of the event support livestrong. I would love to go but can't.

"Cancer is not a pink ribbon" is the theme of the book.

Check it out. Buy the book. We're not alone, ladies.

    I saw this on facebook the other day. I love it. I highly recommend checking it out. These photographs are beautiful and touching.
    I wanted to put out there - anyone who's on facebook can add me! I'm on there alot more than I am on here, and since I'm just drained all the time from chemo, it seems like my laptop is a permanent attachment to my lap...I know I have a handful of you great ladies on my FB but if anyone else would like to, look me up under Heather Kaylor Grontkowski. The pink hair pic will pop up - can't miss me ;)
    Sorry to stray from the subject here - plase check out this page. Alot of my friends have checked out & it really gives others a different, more personal perspective, on what we're going through.

    I've been dealing with my
    I've been dealing with my scars alone. It's been less than a year since my surgery, I'm finished with all my treatments. When I saw these pictures I realized that maybe my scars will change over time. I didn't get reconstruction done because I felt at 57 it didn't matter much. Sometimes I wish I had but have decided to embrace my body as it is rather than go through more pain.

    I applaud these photos and all the women in them!!! Courage is a word all survivors can embrace!

    I'm with 3rd generation .. WOW, what an awesome site
    I'm having scar envy .. wanting to have them sanded down, removed and elimated .. no longer an issue ...

    Breast Cancer Survivor and Proud of it!

    Thanks for sharing this info. I checked it out on Facebook. I would have never known it was there if you had not pointed it out. Those young women are beautiful. The photographer has not only captured their outer beauty but the beauty emanating from the depths of their souls.

    it out on Facebook too. Inspiring courageous women is all I can say! I'm dealing with my scars which go from the center of my chest to under my arm on both sides. They actually healed well. Both of my shoulders look like railroad tracks after 3 surgeries on left and 6 on the right. Sometimes I had staples and others were stitches. The breasts were internal stitches so look much better. I also have a scar along the lower part of my neck from disc fusion. I consider them all my battle wounds and forget about them until I see them in the mirror. Oh well, they're part of who I am now.
