Before we get too carried away here....
Before we get too carried away here....

The Internet is like a big telephone "party line". For those that are
too young to remember, a "party line" was when the phones in an
area were connected together, and others on the line could hear
your conversations, or even talk to you.

Well.... everyone, everywhere, can read and see everything you
post to the Internet. And it's not "just for today", what you do on
the Internet lives on for more years than you can possibly imagine!

Try "The WayBack Machine" for an idea if just how long stuff
is available to the general population.

Everything you do on the Internet is also "cached" (saved) on
Internet servers (computers) between you and wherever you
assume you're typing to. You can see how many "hops" or machines
you go through by using this method *HERE*.

Each of the "hops" are machines (PCs) that store all data, and
send the data along to the next machine. Many of those servers
never empty the data, and store it forever. Your blogs, Email,
pictures, account data, etc, live on and on, available to anyone
    that wishes to see it.

You can not erase the data once it's sent out of your computer.

So before we get too carried away posting things that we don't
want to entire world to be privy to for ever and ever.....

A lil' caution now, can save you headaches later.

My avatar is me from 40 years ago down at the NJ shore. Many of my avatars over the years have been me. Actually all of them except for the nature shots.
You're right John about once you send a photo out there it's out there forever. I was part of an AP story that dealt with Avastin and the cost of drugs and if it's worth it or not. AP even send a photographer to my house.

I can understand if you don't want to or anyone else not wanting to. There's a certain anonymity that comes with the internet. I've been off the "Most Wanted List" for a number of years now so I feel it's safe.

Great Pic! It's sad but I don't have any real young pictures of me. My mom and Dad divorced and his family kept all the pics......

I guess the pics was not a good idea. But what the heck, if someone takes my identity they will have cancer too.......shame on you!
