My oncologist has suggested that I take taxotere and carboplatin for my chemotherapy treatment. In reading about the side effects, I found that carboplatin can cause vision problems. Anyone have these problems? Did they reverse themselves?

    I did not have carboplatin
I did not have carboplatin but my near vision did change on ACT. I had to have my prescription change. Ihad some brief neuropathy in my eyes from the taxol, but that went away quickly thank goodness.

They are both very strong Chemo drugs, & to me effective. I did 6 rounds of it along with Herceptin. It is helpful to read & ask about the drugs you will be taking, however, no one can say which, if any side effects you will have. Please try not to stress yourself out too much over the "what-if's". I did have some blurred vision off & on. I'm now 3 months chemo free & it seems to be getting back to normal. Hope that helps.

Cat is right. I just post as
Cat is right. I just post as my onc likes to think nothing is caused by chemo. and I felt like a freak. or as I posted here "a chemo failure" , I got some s/e and not not others everyone is different. the blurry vision is sometimes from dry eyes and OTC drops fixed that.

some days my vision is blurry . . . but there are many days when i don't need my glasses which never happened before chemo. so one never knows what side effects will hit us. i also had major problems with my nails on my first round of chemo - but now i have beautiful long strong nails like i have never in my life had before! i only hope that once the hair grows in the nails don't go, since they both use the same stuff to grow!

no need to worry in advance about side effects. . . they do go away after we are through with chemo.

I had the same cocktail as
I had the same cocktail as your Onc suggests, and I had minor vision problems, but nothing severe. I needed to use stronger glasses to read, and I would see "stars" when I looked up in a bright blue sky. I got stronger glasses and didn't look up into the bright blue sky without sunglasses (so I wouldn't worry :-) ). It all got better when I was done. My eyes are back to normal for reading, and the stars are much improved. Good luck!

JaninMN .. I agree with you .. same chemo cocktail
same experience. However, my eyes continue to drip (I'm still on Herceptin), and I use my reading glasses more often.

I'm on both these drugs and I have found that the only time my vision was blurry was when I had dry eyes. I used drops and my sight is fine. I am half way through 6 rounds. Hope all goes well for you take care Kay
