edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
Seven years ago yesterday - my journey began in earnest with a mammogram & ultrasound that initially revealed breast cancer. Yes, they could tell by the images (not always the case).

I am exceedingly grateful for the excellent oncological medical care that has brought me this far, continues today, as it will for the rest of my life.

I am grateful to be alive. And, I am grateful for all of you - each and every one. Although - as our ultimate Kindred Spirit often writes - I truly wish none of us had a need to be here, that there was no reason for this site to exist.

With heartfelt wishes for wellness, and always with...

Kind regards, Susan

    My goodness, 12/25~ 7 years!
My goodness, 12/25~ 7 years! Quite the milestone! I am raising an invisble glass to you (it is rather early for the Real Thing!)and celebrating! Here's to the first 7 years, and the next, and the next, and the next after that. In the words of Buzz Lightyear~ "To Infinity and Beyond!"

Thank you for being such an integral part of these boards; your graciousness and generosity are so evident by the things you post.

Try not to re-live this anniversary; it was not such a good day! To the contrary, rejoice in knowing where you are today instead!

    Hugs,
    Chen♥

    Happy Eleventh of July!
07/11/2003 was my worst birthday ever. My dear Mom was in rapidly declining health, and it was just a matter of days before she passed away. Even though we knew that Mom had lived a long, happy, and accomplished life and that death would come as a sort of kindness - it still hurt terribly. I used to call Mom every year on my birthday and thank her for having me. But now she didn't even know who I was. Moopy was my rock during this time and I couldn't have made it without her. But even so, I just barely made it.

Amidst my birthday festivities yesterday, my dear friend Cena from Ohio mentioned that her husband (oddly enough, born at St. Luke's Hospital in Racine, WI just like me) was celebrating his second anniversary of successful surgery for colo-rectal cancer. I told Cena I looked forward to celebrating many more Elevenths of July with Chris... and I hereby invite you to join us. After all, it isn't every day you can recruit a real live Christmas Girl into a July club!

Wishing you many, many more happy Elevenths,
    Joe

I have learned things that would have scared the hell out of me had I not read them here first. I am honored to know you on this board. I wish you 107 more cancer free years.God bless you Kay

Susan, you began life as a Christmas gift to your family. From your first posts, you have been a gift to us here. Your wisdom, compassion, and humor--these are some of your qualities that you have shared with me and with so many others.

I am thankful for my Christmas sister/friend and will remain so always. Joe and I look forward to celebrating with you 17 anniversaries, 27 anniversaries, 37....

    Hello from Cat (at work)
I have been remiss. I just logged into CSN and found your post. How could I possibly have forgotten such a milestone for my cyber buddy? Inexcusable! And yes, I am sure you consider it as a positive milestone, even if it is the day you found out you had an epic battle ahead.

I do have to tell you that you inspire me. Your positive attitude and encouragement help so many who are still battling, or are in their “after care” phase. I can only say that your continued good health is of great importance, to all of us. It was so nice to see you and Lynn together, another meeting of the “pinks”, so cool! And really nice to see your beautiful face as your avatar, even though we all know how important your pup was to your recovery.

I have also missed so many posts from others, I can only hope they know I am always sending good wishes and prayers to all of them.

    Biggest (cyber) hugs to you!
    Cat
