I am wondering how long it will be before I start loosing hair? I was going to make an appointment with my hairdresser to have it shaved but didn't want to do it to early!

Hi TulsaMom! I didn't have chemo, so, I can't really answer your question, but, I know that many here will post to you to answer your question.

How are you doing so far with chemo?

    Sue :)

ADDED: I just bumped up a thread titled "should I shave my head". Maybe it will help some.

    Day 15 for me
There was no doubt my hair was falling by day 15 after first chemo. I glued it together with hairspray for a couple more days to get through the run of my daughter's school play. What an annoying mess (not the play, the hair). Then, sweet relief of the buzz cut.

Originally, I planned on buzzing it ahead of time, but I'm glad I didn't. It helped to see that, yes, it really was coming out, I wasn't going to be the only exception and not lose it.

    Mine started coming out on
Mine started coming out on day 13 after 1st trt. I chose to go ahead and shave my head on day 14. I think I would have been ok waiting another week or so but kinda wanted to get it over with. Best of luck with your trt. I just finished my TC 4 in all. You can do it!! God Bless

    Hair loss
I did 4 rounds of T/C, my hair started coming out on Day 16. It came out in strands not in clumps. After it started to come out I decided to go ahead and have my head shaved, like 3 days later and pick up my wig. My hair never did all come out I never went completely bald. I totally regret shaving my head instead I wish I would of just went with a really cute short hair cut. Everyone is different and there is no way of knowing if you will go completely bald or just have major thinning of your hair. Watching your hair fall out is very traumatic. I do remember my head being very sensitive for a few days and itching.

    Take care

started losing hair on day 13
by day 15, about 2/3 of it had fallen out in clumps - had long hair, so it looked really bad. had my head shaved, found out i was totally fine with it and wish i hadn't paid big bucks for a wig. finished chemo on 4/1. hair started growing back, was about 3/4" long all over ans oh so soft. june 11, started chemo again, hair began falling out on 9th day after chemo. sporting the bald look again. that doesn't bother me as much as the loss of eyelashes!

    Hi Tulsa
Around day 14 or 15. You know when its time to shave. First my sister gave me a short style , thats on my picture, then a shave. I also had alot of hair. Its hard going through for some. Brows and lashes came out towards the end of treatment for me.

    Hi Tulsa,
Day 12 for me. It came out first in strands, then handfuls. I had it buzzed and it was much better. I had 4 rounds of C/T.

Good luck and I hope time flys for you and it's over soon.

    Hugs, Judy :-)

    Hi Tulsa
I had my first chemo treatment on June 23, 2010. 14 days ago, and my hair hasn't started coming out yet. My scalp is tingling, so I'm sure it won't be long. Take care!

    Hair
I started loosing my hair after my second treatment. But I had
learned my lessons from this board and had gotten a short
hair cut. I was glad I did. So this way I had somewhat of a
    transition.

I was also on TC. And the good news is it is coming back
    6 months after chemo .

I hope your chemo will be as eventless as mine =)

    Hi Tulsamom
Mine started coming out overnight because when I woke up this morning I had hair all over my pillow, so today I started pulling it out. The top of my head is now bald and I got tired of standing in the bathroom so I'm taking a break but it's all gonna be pulled out by tomorrow. It's weird too because it doesn't hurt one bit to pull it out.

Day 15 for me, and I had my blood work done today and all my numbers are okay so I'm good to go for my next chemo round this coming Wednesday.

    So surprised it doesn't hurt!
My head was way too tender to pull out the hair. You will not have to put up with any yucky stubble from buzzing it, at this rate! Glad chemo is going okay for you, Ronda! Love, Chris

    Day 13
Mine came out in a few strands and then turned into clumps. I cried about it at first but then just got so fed up with the shedding and being unable to brush my hair so I called up my hairdresser to shave it. I did not lose all of my hair though - it is still even growing!

    About day 16 or so
I had TC as well. Mine started coming out a little at a time and then in handfuls. My husband took a #4 clipper to my hair when it really started coming out. Eventually he took it down to a #2. The funny thing was that not all the hairs on my head fell out, so I was glad that I didn't have it completely shaved bald. The little bit of hair that I had left helped the scarves to hold onto the hair. I wore scarves the whole time rather than have a wig, and I loved them.

Last chemo was 5/18 (it's amazing how you remember those days) and I now have about 1/4 inch of fuzz all over my head. The hair on my legs started growing back first, which was a bummer! I liked not having to shave for awhile. I can't tell if the hair is going to be curly or not; right now it's just really soft.

I thought losing my hair would be awful, but it wasn't so bad. Having pretty scarves helped!

    Good luck.

About 14 days for me. As soon as i pulled out the first chunk i went to my sisters and she cut my hair just above my shoulders and i donated all 17 inches of it to locks of love so a child could have some hair. I never shaved it my doc told me not to but i could give it a buzz cut...but instead i just pulled the rest out even though for awhile i looked like smeegel (the creepy little dude from lord of the rings).

day 15 to 17 .. as I recall - I did enjoy pulling out my hair
it was surreal to see hundred of strands of my hair between my fingers ..... I felt a right of passage as I enjoy releasing my chunks of hair into the wind in my back yard.

I chose to shave my hair .. my timing. Sounds werid - cuz it all goes away, whether we want it or not. First place many of us women notice hair lose is south of the border, when we pull down our panties to go wee wee .. yep, it is scary and noticeable.

    Spoke to soon
Yesterday in the shower while washing my hair, my head was really tender. When I combed my hair is when I started noticing the strands on my comb. Strands are starting to come out when I run my fingers through my head. I thought I was ready for this, now I'm not too sure.......
