We are now at CTCA and have PET, CT and EUS scheduled for this week. Just wondering if the nervousness ever goes away when you know new tests are scheduled???

    Easier?
I don't know if it gets easier or you get better at coping but things do seem to be more manageable as time goes on.

    Good luck.

    Hi and Welcome
I would not say things in this journey get easier, they just get more manageable as you learn more about it. You will always be nervous waiting for the results of any test. Best of luck to you, and let us know how it all turns out.

    Sorry...no
Sorry to say, but the nervousness will probably not go away. First we have to wait for the day of the test...then wait until we get results. Maybe we get used to the process, but always anxious for the news.

Prayers that your news will be good.

Dale and I have decided that
Dale and I have decided that there are two kinds of survivors....those who have had cancer and are fearful that it will come back, and those who have not had it but are fearful that it will strike the first time. My mother died of uterine cancer when I was 15 months old and I have always thought it would be me who had to fight this battle. Just taking it one day at a time and knowing that God is in control and will give us all the strength to make it.

    yes it does
In due time it does get easier, but you are just in the beginning of the journey, so every test every result, every appt, and every appointment seems like it won't. The journey is hard there is bumps, hills, mountains, and curves on this journey but as you go through this journey, you will look back at times, and wonder how did I get this far. Then you will say the only way I got this far is the all of us at CSN, and the doctors, specialist, and the most important GOD. Little did I realize I too would be going on this journey, it was not an easy journey to go down. When I first signed on I kept telling myself there is no way I can do this, but there was this special woman we had on board, (which has now went to make room for other EC people) but she was a jewel, she kept my spirits up, she let me know what to expect and how things would go. William always gave me a prayer, and always gave me hope.

It will be one year next month and this time last year I was walking your shoes, I hated all the appointments, and disappointments, but glad now he had the surgery.

This beast we call CANCER can hit anyone of us at any time, thats why I want to be so involved in everything I can do on this board.

Help the ones that is starting this journey, and has so many questions.

As I started this journey and at the time when my parents were sick, my motto was "PULL UP THE BIG GIRL PANTIES AND DEAL WITH IT" so with that being said we always told the newbies, or anyone else their BIG GIRL PANTIES will arrive at their door so they can make sure they will work for you while going through all the problems.

I have learned so much in a year about EC and know I can help just about any body that comes on the board that is scared and don't know what to expect.

I just want you to know that while you are going through these bumps in life, you have to know that GOD is the one in your life and to get you through all this.

You just have to go as a family want you want to do yes you can listen to everyone on this board but you have to go with your gut, and what you think is best for DALE not whats best for this board, or for you what he thinks he should do. Just know GOD will get you through this.

Now, as my friend always said "life isn't about waiting for a storm to pass, its about learning how to dance in the rain"

so get your BIG GIRL PANTIES READY, AND YOUR DANCING SHOES you will need them through this journey.

    Just know I am here

    Nicely said Moe . . . and I
Nicely said Moe . . . and I would add that you must promise yourself to keep on dancing even when the sun is shining, treasure the moments you have everyday, thank God for all the abundant blessings in your life and trust in him and yourself that you will take on whatever challenge you face and that you will be stonger at the end of the struggle and able to appreciate life in ways that some others may never have an opportunity to experience. And yes there are times when we get tired and want to vent and have a pity party and here is the best part === you can do that here === but be prepared to have someone tell you after you have vented and begin to feel better to put on those BIG GIRL PANTIES and go on out and fight another day :)

    Thanks William. Very
Thanks William. Very valuable info and coaching. Dale was in the hospital for fifteen days, five in ICU, because there were no telemetry beds and he was in a fib. He has done well after the surgery that was done on April 2nd with very few complications. We did have scans and EUS done before the surgery, these will be the first scans post surgery. I would have to say that the minimally invasive surgery is just the best. He has had no pain. Even while in ICU there was no pain. We are in Tulsa for a second opinion, because the oncologist we saw at the institution where the surgery was done was not sure if chemo after surgery would be helpful, even though there were 3 out of 18 lymph nodes positive.
