Yes to Stent
Hi Adele and welcome. I was a caregiver for my dad. He has recently passed away from ec with mets to the liver. He was doing great, beat the ec, but unfortunately it metasthasized to his liver. He had a stent put in his esophagus. It did wonders! Opened it right up. The scar tissue from the chemo and radiation was closing it off. Once the stent was put in place...no problem. My dad's tumor was in the same place, end of esophagus, right above the stomach. He did 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. Hardly any side effects. Just tired by the end of the week. Mets tend to be a problem with some ec patients. Everyone is different and reacts differently. You can also find alot of help from the esophageal cancer discussion board as well as the caregivers board. Good luck. Keep in touch.

My sister in law has stage 4
My sister in law has stage 4 stomach cancer and she just had a procedure 2 days ago. It's not a stent, yet. The cancer spread to the duodenum just above the intestines and it was blocking the small intestines so she became jaundiced and vomiting. The tube is to drain the bile if it doesn't work out they will put a stent in.
