Whatever stuff I had exiting rectum after colostomy
was not that much or often and ceased rather quickly. Speak with your surgeon. Hope all ends well...steve

    Mucus Yuckus Stuffolus

Yup, that's the medical term for it.

Ileostomates suffer from it as well. It's normal, but it usually doesn't
last too long with all that much output.

It might depend on how much colon was left in? I only have about
a foot of colon, so the amount is minimal. In our past life, all that
mucus wasn't noticed, since it kinda' got mixed into the other stuff,
and who looks, right? But now.... now that we don't go like our
petty human counterparts, we see only the stuff that usually got
mixed into our fabulous rectal recipe automatically.

It never hurts to ask your doc, he might want to take a look to make sure
your **** isn't going to fall off in the middle of a Walmart shopping spree..

    Like.... Who needs -that-?

    Yeah, really....

By the way "khayman1", the phenomena of emitting squishie, smellie
stuff out of there doesn't cease. The Mucus Yuckus Stuffolus continues
being produced, since it's a byproduct of a normal working system.

As long as you have the best part (ok, I'm fond of that part... sue me)
still hanging around and it's alive, there will be mucus produced and
    it has to go someplace...

And yes, sometimes it can smell like old window putty or worse,
and it will make you feel like you're going to have a natural bowel
movement, but alas... it'll prolly be only a small ball of putty-like
smelly substance. Eeeeeuie - gag. And that's it.

Some docs will tell you to use one of those "Fleet enemas"
every so often, just to clean junk buildup out... and some
never tell you anything. And some ostomates never flush,
and some do often... I really don't know if it matters at all,
when we figure the whole scheme of things.

Bottom line I guess, is to not end up on "People of Walmart.com",
    or worse (Is nothing sacred?).
