Yesterday turned out to be a 12 hours ordeal, 5 hours at the hospital for the port (which wasn't as bad as I expected) then saw my onc. She told me I'm now considered Stage 3A instead of 2A because of all the lymph nodes and cells in chest wall. But seems to think with chemo and rads it should take care of this. Then over to chemo area, where blood work was taken, then meds started, after that I was given Cytoxan and Taxotere for a few hours. Since I'll be getting chemo every week the infusions are not as long as most of you. Next week it is supposed to be about 3 hours. Slept good for about 7 hours and woke up slightly sick. Today still feel a little sick, lightheaded and tired. I have compazine to take as needed if it gets worse. Since all my family is coming Mother's Day I sure hope it doesn't get worse. I may have to change my chemo week day if it turns out that I get sick thru the weekend because that's when we have most activities. I'm lucky that I'm retired so I don't have to worry about my job like so many of you do. I admire all of you who keep on going to work and having all the treatments at the same time. So many of you have went thru this before me and left me a legacy of support, experience and best wishes. I'm so grateful for all of you pink warriors and wish each of you the best of everything.

    Sunrae!
Thanks for checking in and giving us an update. Sounds like things are going fairly well for you so far, which is great to hear.

I would encourage you to go ahead a take the compazine if you are feeling even the least bit queasy. My doctor actually instructed me to take it for 2 days after each chemo regardless of how I felt, and I never was nauseous at all. The nurses had also told me that it was important to take any anti-nausea meds sooner rather than later as the medication is much more effective at preventing than it is at helping once you're already feeling sick.

I had my chemos on Wednesdays, and the weekends were tough for me, but as you know everyone is different. I hope you are able to enjoy your Mother's Day with your family as you deserve.

    Take care,
    Cindy

Sunrae, great to hear from you. I agree with Cindy to stay on top of the nausea. You have come a long way and I'm so thankful that you are now on to the chemo stage. Before you know it, your treatments will be behind you. In the meantime, take it easy but be sure to drink plenty of water. Keep us posted on your progress. Have a wonderful Mother's Day!! Take care of yourself!

    Glad you checked in Sunrae!
Glad you checked in Sunrae! So sorry for the nausea. Do what the others said and take your meds to help you. No sense in your feeling bad when the pills should help you out. Sorry that your staging changed too. You are a fighter though and will get thru this and the rest of your treatment! Hope you have a good Mother's Day!

    Hugs, Diane

    Sunrae,

You sound like you are doing so much better mentally. Stay strong and hang in there. You are an inspiring warrior for me as you have been though so much. And every time I get more bad news I think of you and what you have and are going through and know that can try harder!
