Failed Chemo

I was receiving 5-FU,avastin, leucovorin oxiliplatin (6 rounds only) and a phase one trial drug apomab.The treatments stopped working as my last scan showed progression of the cancer. My onc is starting me on Irinotecan and Vectibix, if I'm k-ras negative on April 21. I'm just looking for information on how other people handled this chemo. I'm a little unnerved about starting over with new chemo. Any info would be greatly appreciated. blessing to all. Deb

    I am on irenotecan, as part of my chemo cocktail (folfiri + avastin). I find it manageable for the most part. So far I have had 12 rounds. The greatest side effects for me are fatigue (the day of chemo; it is usually a long day for me, as well as the day my pump is disconnected + the day after), hair loss + sometimes diarrhea (which immodium takes care of). The good news for me is so far it is working, where folfox did not. My two colorectal tumours were not detectable after 4 rounds + my liver mets have decreased in size. My hair actually started growing back after about round 9 or 10. Good luck with this new treatment.
