I have a friend who is currently undergoing Folfiri for Stage IV CC (just like me) and is unhappy with her oncologist. She is new to all this and not a message board type, so I thought I would ask y'all.

Is there anyone out there in the Bay Area that has an oncologist they can recommend? Also, what are the major cancer centers around there?

Thanks so much,

C Dixon

    Stanford, UCSF
Are the two major cancer centers in the Bay Area. My sister saw Dr. Fischer at Stanford for a time and I did attend a lecture at UCSF where they really have a "team" approach.

    Hope this helps.

Good luck to your friend on this journey.

    UCSF colon cancer oncologist
At UCSF I would recommend Dr Emily Bergsland, great personality, very experienced, knows all the clinical trials, etc.
    Good luck!

    I love my oncologist
I can heartily recommend my oncologist, Dr. May Chen - Harvard Undergrad, Yale Medical School, Stanford Residency, Stanford professor, super kind, very proactive. You can see her information here: http://www.sbohp.com/southbaydoctor3.html.

Dr. Chen can be reached at 408-376-2300.

Tell her Ying sent you. I am her favorite patient :-) (In my own mind anyway!)

    Best of luck to you!

    Oncologist at Stanford
My husband sees Dr George Fisher, who is great...but you have to deal with residents, nurse practioners, etc...and paying for parking; even for your infusion appointments. Good luck and prayers to you and your friend.

    May Chen, MD
    Hi, Ying

May Chen (in Campbell/San Jose area) is my doctor as well. This is a small world indeed!!
-Dr. Chen is my oncologist (and I really, really like her too!)
-I, too, had signet ring colon cancer, which is quite rare.
-Dr. Stein diagnosed my cancer too!! (I actually had problems with him, but that is just my experience).

Hi, I have been referred to Dr. Robin Kate Kelley at UCSF. My onc here in Chico, Ca was impressed by her as I am. she is pleasant, caring and seems to know her stuff! Best to you and your friend. Jean
