Thanks everyone for all your support.. Last night about 3 took a hard turn. Chris began swelling in his stomach and began throwing up. His white count has dropped low, they put a NG tube in him, a pick line for food and did a xray.. He now has a bowel obstruction. Not sure at this point what it even means. As I write this we are waiting for the surgeon to come meet with us. His pain is UNREAL... I so wished I could have talked him out of this..sigh..........thank you Loves, |

Oh Mel
Hang in there girl and come back and let us know how things are going as soon as you know something, even a one liner. You know you are family and we are all hurting with you. I know you wish Chris did not do this surgery but it is something he really wanted, was insistant on, so you are truly an angel hanging in there with him. You have been there 100% through this journey and I know you will continue to do so. Just be there with him, hold his hand, whisper things to him, tell him good stories from the past, and that will give him strength. I think of you often - Tina

So Sorry
Dear Ones,
So sorry that you're having such a rough time. I pray that things will improve quickly and that the healing will begin. I know it is so hard to watch a loved one suffer. Try to take care of yourself any chance you get. You also need to get your rest and try to eat good so you don't wear yourself out Will continue to pray for you both. Let us know how things are going when you can.

Wow, it is amazing how quickly things can turn. I am very sorry to read this news. Sometimes, what seems like a good idea with this disease, opens up a whole new can of worms.
I am praying Chris comes out of this. It amazes me how quickly the bowel can get obstructed even after resection. I just wish I understood it.
Hugs and prayers.

Hey Mel!
I've been hospitalized at least 5 times with obstructions, so I know the pain, I was screaming, and my hubby had to carry me into the van, throwing up the whole way to the 2 hour trip to the hospital, I could barely walk. Adhesions and scar tissue will cause those stupid obstructions.
If he can get a pain pump, with some diladin in it, it helps the pain soooo much, he can click to release pain medicine every 10 minutes or so, as it also continously goes into you, but the NG tube will help him from puking, and some IV Zofran or Phenagran or something for his nausea. But he will be fine as soon as he passes a bowel movement, I was once in the hospital for 3 weeks till they finally did surgery on me to move it, something they didn't want too do, as they don't like doing surgery if they can help it, I am on Avastin, and each time you have surgery, it just causes more adhesions and scar tissue, so you bet, I was in the hospital again after my first one.
But hopefully he will be better soon, my prayers are with you, once the pain is under control, all he needs to do it make that BM, and he'll feel much better.
Hugsss!

thank you everyone!! Chris
thank you everyone!! Chris is doing a little better everyday. They scan him daily and a just watching him. Rushing him back in to do anything at this point has to be a last resort. He is just too weak. He got off the IV morofin and when to oral meds today and is able to eat ice chips. Although he is still in alot of pain I see improvements so it gives usn relief, The Dr told him today he still has at least a week in the hospital and that got him down. Easter sunday and my bday monday.. I told him they both come every year and we have alot more ahead. I love you all and cant even put to words how much you comfort me and how much i apprecaite you all... i will keep ya posted

So glad he is doing better
This is good news. Yes its going to take some time to heal, but you are so right, you will have many more Easters and Bdays to come, and that is what you both need to focus on.
Will keep you both in my prayers
God Bless

Melanie, I am so glad to
Melanie, I am so glad to hear that Chris is doing better every day! It is always tough staying in the hospital longer than we want, but it sounds like that's where he needs to be the next week or so. It's always a sign we are feeling better when we want out of the hospital! Take good care.

continued improvement
I feel his pain and can only imagine yours! I am so glad for the both of you that things are looking better, pain meds by mouth is a big step in the right direction. I will keep you both in thought and prayers, and Mel dont forget to breath. I am only half joking there.
