I did better the 1st time
I did better the 1st time around but this time it is rough on me, pain, fatigue etc. It usually hits me a few days later and I drag myself around for a couple weeks then feel ok and have to go back for more, lol! What meds are you getting? I am sorry if you posted it and I missed it. hugs to you and feel better soon.

    not until chemo is over
My mother felt worse as the chemo went on, and didn't start feeling better until a month or two after the chemo was over.

Doctors are not allowed to stop chemo because the patient feels awful -- only if there is a life-threatening event of some kind. So don't think your doctor is being mean to you because the chemo is so rough. It really is bad -- it's not just you.

Drink, drink, drink, and use miralax and immodium (or whatever your doctor has prescribed) to get things moving downstairs. Other than that, your only job right now is to rest and recover.

I guess I am not typical.
I guess I am not typical. My first treatment was by far the hardest. The second one was a close runner-up. I have felt good, for the most part, ever since. I finished my 6th and final treatment of carbo/taxol about 2 weeks ago and had zero side effects from it. No nausea, no neuropathy, no extreme fatigue - even though my labs were just so-so.

I do tire easily, but that's fairly easy to remedy with an afternoon nap.

I was still so sick when I first came home from the hospital, anything would be an improvement.

    Carbo/doxil for recurrence
I'm struggling so much with this second round of chemo after a 7-month dance with NED. I'm nauseated, fatigued, constipated and then loose bowels, and have a lot of stomach pain.

I did so much better on carbo/taxol/avastin, even though I did get bone pain, but I wasn't sick. I've had two infusions so far. After the next one the oncologist said she'll have me do scans again to see if it's working because my abdomen is sore to the touch all over and it never used to be--only a couple of spots until now. I missed 5 days of work and went back today for the first time, and cried the whole morning. It was ridiculous.

I'm not a crier, and it's quite embarrassing although people are very understanding, but it doesn't help me get much work done.

I know the first time I had chemo the first was the worst like Carlene, although the cumulative effect as I got to 6 and 7 made it a little harder. I'mthinking my body just hasn't had time to recover and isn't ready to go through this doxil treatment. Then I think of Bonnie who has never had NED.Howdo you get through all this chemo andstill do the things you do? You are amazing.

Love to all the ladies here. Especially Dorion right now. Dorion, I'm so sorry for all you're going through. I always look for your latest update. Ok, now I've gotten windy. Sorry about that.

    This chemo stuff
seems to be so unique to everyone. I think you just have to keep plugging forward.

I sailed through the carbo/taxol for 8 rounds (went on a couple trips, did my usual life pretty much) but the cisplatin/gemzar was sure a different story altogether. The worst experience, of my life, actually. I just wanted to die. And the tears were always ready to spill out at the drop of a hat. I think when you feel weak, it really affects the emotions too. I know everyone around me was baffled as to what to say.

Now, the doxil/ carbo is not bad. Just have to move really slow from the neuropathy. It didn't really kick in until after 17 rounds or so of chemo. Hoping for another break soon, to give the ol' body a rest from the toxins.

    Your new photo
Love your new photo, Kathleen. I'm glad you're doing well on doxil. I wish I could say the same. But today, one week after the chemo, I do feel 100% better. It's like a switch was flipped! I actually ate a sandwich for lunch right now. I've only had soup and stuff like that.
