Nauseated with Rads ???

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been reading but even though I'm not posting I am praying for you all. Tomorrow ends week three of rad treatments for me.

Question: Any of you rad girls experience being nauseated and/or light headed from rad treatments. I'm not on any BC meds and not in chemo but I felt that way this morning. Not sure if I can blame it on rads or if I am coming down with something.

    Hi. I'm in week 5 of rads and haven't felt any nausea but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. Call your radiation department and speak to one of the nurses or your doctor and ask if it could be a side effect. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon. Pitt

    Hey Gloria! I never had any nausea with rads. I don't think that happens. Could it be your nerves? Or, you might be getting sick with something else. Call your rads oncologist and tell them about it. Mine were so helpful. They helped me with all kinds of other things, not even rad related. Let us know what they say.

    Definitely mention this to your radiation oncologist. Nausea is not common with rads, I don't think, but your doctor should know. Good luck and I hope the symptoms go away.

    Gloria, I am so sorry that you feel sick. You should tell your rads oncologist today or tomorrow, whenever you go next. This isn't a symptom for rads.

    I had 30 treatments and no nause/lightheadedness. We are still in full flu season though and you did have chemo, though not for awhile. Maybe u are coming down w/something. Since you see the rad techs daily, can't hurt to ping the rad onc doc.

    Radiation to your breasts and/or lymph nodes should not cause nausea, but certainly check in with the nurse at your rads center about it.

    I do think it's important to remember, even if the folks at the rad center are awesome, it still can be stressful and tiring just to have to get yourself to rads every darn day -- it definitely was for me. So, if your tummy decided to "speak up" just from stress, that wouldn't be surprising.

    You shouldn't be sick from radiation treatments. Ask one of nurses there or your rads oncologist about it. You might be getting the flu. They should be checking you at least once a week anyway to see how your skin is doing. Post and let us know what they say or find out.

    I had one episode probably after 6 weeks. They said it was not from radiation, however gave me medication. I still belive it was related. Definitely tell to your radiation oncologist doc. Do you drink enough water? It could be dehydration.

    It got better after rads ended. My doc knew I felt really sick, but I didn't get any meds.
    Also, I had gangrene in a tooth at the time, so that may have caused it.

    I had nausea during my RADs, but I'm pretty sure it was because my Celiac disease was coming to a head. It is had to tell, I was tired, some days very tired, but I think it was more do to the Celiac.

    Sorry it took me so long to update you on this. I did ask the rad nurses and they said no, it was not related. It went away the next day so I am not concerned. Thank you all for your comments and concerns. Hugs to all!

    Rad Nausea
    Hi Gloria, I'm Sara and I just started my rad treatments on Feb 11, 2010. When I got up on Feb 12, 2010 I was nausea. I'm not sick from a cold or anything like that. Had my second treatment in the afternoon on Feb 12, 2010 and that night I felt sick again. I asked the ladies who administer the rads and they say that nausea is not a symptom, but for me I believe it is. I will know after I take my treatments next week. Good luck.

    I'm in my 5th week of rads and have been feeling nauseated for about 5-7 days. I kept thinking that maybe I was starting the flu. Then I remembered your post. I asked the nurse at radiation today if she had other patients comment about being nauseated. She said she has had a handful of them and that typically they were all having radiation on the left side. The stomach is on the left side. To her knowledge, this symptom has never been medically acknowledged. Acknowledged or not, I think it just very well may be from treatment. Thought you'd like to know that you aren't the only one.
