Dear Doctor and anyone can help,

Please, pls tell me what I should do and how.My father, a famer aged 53 lived all his life in the countryside, was diagnosised Stage IV Colon Cancer and have spread to liver where max tumor 6.2cm X3cm, and to celiac lymph node on NOV 18th 2009 and had received twice chemotherapy (aoshalibo + 5F,first on Dec 3rd 2009, second on 17th 2009). [my father was treated in The general hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army predecessor in Beijing, China ]

Poor farther, worked day and night in the land only to make money for his children to go to school and I , the second child and the only son , was graduated two years before and try my best to let famality hv a better life in the future. But now, suddenly my father had this disease and in Stage IV (he never told us any uncomfort before, so we don't belive our doctor's diagnosised at first, but we had to after we saw the PET CT, CEA) and all in a sudden, I felt the world was crasped. All I want was to let family live a better life and let father see my success so that all his hard work in the land, in the country side was wothwhile and so that he was a great father. All these seems imppssible now...

Dear friends, kindly tell me how to cured the disease and how to extend the life of my father and how to let him live a better, less painfull (no much pain now, only pain in the celiac usually in the late afternoon, but our doctor the pain will be greater in the future), happier life.

awaiting yours.

brgds

    Hello Lin
My CEA was 75 in the beginning. Mine spread to liver and lungs. This was in April, 2009. As of December 1st I no longer have any active cancer in my body... all gone! My CEA is now 2.8. These miracles are very possible. Get multiple opinions if necessary for BEST treatment. Your father is young... I am 52. I only received 9 treatments and with the help of God....FAITH... I am healed. I will pray for you and your family. If you have any questions that I can answer please ask away. You can PM me also. Take care and FIGHT this awful stuff. Your Dad can beat this!!!

    dear jennie,

many thanks for your kind reply, it is really helpful, I gain the hope again and become more confident now. can you adv what treatment u rcvd to reduce you CEA from 75 to 2.8 , it is a miracle, chemotherapy ? and can you give some suggestion for the diet and daily life activity during the treatment ?

my father diagnosised, on NOV 18th 2009, Stage IV Colon Cancer spreading to liver and celiac lymph node, docotor suggested first to rcvd 3-4 times of chemotherapy and then retest the PET CT again to decide whether to hv surgery. now treated with aoshalibo + 5Fu .

first chemotherapy on dated Dec 3rd 2009,
    second on Dec 17th 2009
third to come on Dec 28th 2009

    thank you

    dear tammy,

thank you so much for your advice. now every day and seconds seem precious for me, my father and my familiy. we will follow up doctors treatment advice (first to rcvd the chemotherapy and then decide whether to hv surgery as the doctor said it is not suitable for survey now because the cancer had spread to liver and celiac lymph node )

you must rcvd good treatment, any advice for the treatment of Stage IV Colon Cancer spreading to liver and celiac lymph node ?

    good morning.. like i said
good morning.. like i said on march first 07 i found out i had colon cancer stagelV then on march 19th they did the colon surgery..then they put me on folfox and avastin.they were not sure if i was going to be able to have the surgery for my liver but i did that was on july9th 07. since then i have been on different chemos.the cancer has come back in the liver and i have 4 small spots on the lung. and now i am in a study. they are coming out with lots of new stuff and one of these are going to work for me..i am not in pain the only thing i have right now is my hands and feet are a little numb.sounds like your dad is in pretty good shape being a farmer and all. and he is young.i take it one day at a time.3years ago i didnt think i would see another christmas but here i am. and i know there will be lots more.I do remember when i first found out i was devastated i thought stage 4 oh my god im good as dead. not so there are people on this board with five ten even more years out that are now cancer free. so hang in there keep coming to this board and you and your dad will be able to handle anything that comes your way. my advice for treatment is to find the best dr you can .best wishes tammy

    I was only stage III....
But have had many stage IV 'patient partners'.

Some of it is attitude. As you already shared, you are listening to the doctors, and following their treatment advice. It is not easy, and it will hurt your heart to watch your father as he struggles. But, I have known and do know, many stage IV survivors. The acceptance is that these special people will live their lives, occasionally needing to fight battles with cancer. But, if you remain vigilant and seek medical help at each symptom, treatment options work well.

I am sorry for your struggles. Liver is a fairly common place for colon cancer to head. The first line of treatment is usually as what your father is getting. A combination of chemotherapy/radiation/surgery. Listen to his doctors, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Is your father living in China? I have visited there, and know that there are many herbal and ancient remedies for cancer, as well. Do not be misled, though, most should be used IN ADDITION to 'western' treatments...NOT in replacement. And, with each one, a question should be asked of his 'western' doctor to make sure it would not interfer with the chemo/radiation. For instance, my oncologist told me no antioxidents during the chemotherapy.

Your father needs to eat well, and stay as happy as possible. For me, anyway, it made a big difference. Both on the colon cancer and the breast cancer that followed 6 months later.

    Hugs, Kathi
