find more information on oncologists

Mom recently had a ct scan for nodules found on her lungs while in for knee surgery. They did a needle biopsy about 2 weeks ago and stated that it is cancer and she is scheduled to have a PET Scan this afternoon.

I have been trying to find out if this pulmonary specialist who started to see her while in for the knee surgery is a lung cancer specialist as well and the only information I can find on him is that his Sub-specialties are Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease @ http://www.vitals.com/doctor/profile/1285684183.

According the the website for the practice it states C. Gerard Petersen, M.D. joined the group in July 2006. He graduated from the Tufts University School of Medicine and then completed a pathology internship and residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center before going on to complete a an internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Temple University Hospital and then worked in a private pulmonary and critical care practice in Bethlehem, Pa. for two years before joining the group. Dr. Petersen has a strong interest in lung cancer.

When I went to the hospital website that he is connected with http://www.lvhn.org/lungcare|2719 and went to the section for cancer specialists this doctor is not listed.

Is there somewhere else that I can find out more information about this doctor so that I can learn more about him as well as decide if we should continue with him or seek out a different doctor who is a specialist in lung cancer treatment?

I just want to make sure that my mom is getting the best care and treatment for her cancer.
