Pre surgery ED

I'm scheduled for daVinci Oct 19, 2009.
Since about a year ago, I've had "mild" ED. It's easily corrected with Cialis or Viagra.
I realize that I won't get better after surgery, but I'm wondering if I'll at least attain the same state I'm in now (mild) eventually. Any thoughts?

Like you, I had an element of ED, that on occasion recquired the magic pill to be functional for intercourse, and this was pre-op. The urologist told me before surgery, that those men who have ED pre-op tend to struggle more after surgery than those that don't have ED. My surgery was May 2009, robotic radical prostatectomy with bilateral nerve preservation, and at this point, I am completely impotent, despite taking daily doses of Cialis and using the pump, as prescribed by the M.D. Just this week I was started on the penile injections, and so far, I have learned that I need to do a better job of figuring the dosage of the injectable medication in order to be sexually functional. However, as most guys will tell you on this forum, these things do take time, and by all accounts, I am not far enough out from surgery to except a full recovery of erectile function. There are those that have had complete return of function with as little as 7-10 days, unfortuantely for me and my wife, that is not the case here. So, I suppose you could expect to be a little more dependent on ED medications after you surgery.
Good luck with your surgery, and remember to stay in touch with all of us on the forum that might be of help to you as you begin to heal and get your life back in order.

Wishing you good success in your upcoming surgery. With mild ED before of course it will not go away. You may have to try different methods besides the Cialis or Viagra but there is hope!

Thanks guys - I will definitely stay in touch post surgery.

Sorry to hear about the May surgery yet still impotent. I expect that I'll have the same situation. I did start the injections already actually, just to see if they work. I too am struggling to find the right dosage. I'm terrified of overdosing as I've heard that can be real ugly (including a trip to emergency). I don't particularly care for the injection method but if it's the only thing that will work, so be it.

I've also got a pump training appointment this week but that doesn't sound very promising either.

I guess it could be worse. I'm just hoping for smooth sailing through the surgery.
