Has anyone been told me that 11 treatments of 5FU, Oxy & Leu were enought and that @ 9 cycles you were 90% done and that 12 was recomended because this was the original protocol back when.

I'm on my 10th cycle now and am trying to make up my mind to go for 12. I have had very little side effects except that my blood counts were low after 9 cycles.

I don't know why you'd stop now, since you've had very little side effects.

Two more...... you can do it! I finished my 12th on Aug. 12 with disconnect two days later. The last two were not a lot worse.

I read the old protocol was a YEAR, not six months.

I asked my onc if he would stop me at 10, as I had heard the same thing you did. I was actually pretty excited at the prospect. His response was, "standard guidelines call for 12 treatments- not 8, 9, 10 or 11, but 12 treatments- and there is no research supporting getting less than 12 treatments benefits you". And that was the extent of our conversation!

...Said the same thing... 6 months of Folfori, every other week. Mine took longer because of all the setbacks I had, and hospitalizations, but, I'm doing my 11th right now, getting unhooked tomorrow, and on Oct 14, will be my 12th finally!! I thought this day would never come! If I can do it, you sure can do it :)

Hugsss!

My husband has just about completed the 12the treatment of Foxfiri. Will he continue on the same regime, or will they now go to a different one? His last cat scan was two weeks ago. The onc said that some of the multiple liver mets had shrunk, some stayed the same, but there were no new ones. The largest one started at 10cm and is down to 6cm. I'm going to his next appt. and I need guidance on what to ask. The onc just doesn't seem aggressive enough to me. I truly believe he is still thinking that there is no way to get enough of the multiple mets to shrink, and my husband will never be a resection candidate. That still bugs me. Another question I have is about the HAI pump. How much of the cancer has to "go away" before he would be a candidate for the pump?

Thanks

Carolyn

Hi,

I ended up not being able to complete all 12. On 11th I had a severe reaction and doctor didn't want to take chance. I had been on chemo for over 6 months due to blood counts etc. Her take on it was that I had been covered for 6 months and that is the protocol also (6 mos 12 cycles.) Anyway, if it would not have been life threatening I would have done 12. I had horrible side effects from it but I'm still here. I want to do everything I can to fight this monster. So glad you're not having bad side effects. You keep fighting and let us know how your doing. You're in my prayers.

Blessings to you

Debbie, (gramma)
