New here. I am having an open partial nephrectomy on my left kidney on October 1st. I haven't received an actual diagnosis yet. As I'm reading through so many of these posts it seems as though many people already know the stage, etc prior to surgery. Urologist told me that 90% of the time, the type of tumor I have is malignant.... MRI just says 'differential includes Renal Cell Carcinoma'.... Any words of wisdom? Super scared for the surgery and everything else that could potentially follow...

    Kidney surgery
Hey dog lover, How did your surgery go? I hope all is well. My diagnosis said "worrisome for a primal malignancy" whatever that means. Any complications? How big was your tumor and what stage was it? I am still waiting to have my surgery so if you feel like sharing with me please do! Steve

    Surgery 10/1
    Hey, Steve,
I just had my surgery one week ago today. Minus now catching a cold, I'm feeling pretty darn good! I don't have the full report yet, but my tumor was Stage 1/Grade 1 so I feel very blessed. I don't anticipate any additional treatment. Since I had no idea what to expect in the way of surgery, I guess it went better than I expected. My tumor was just under 2 cm and was in the mid to upper area of my left kidney. I, too, had most of my pain on my right side - thought I had gall bladder trouble for months.
Imagine my surprise when I had a tumor in my LEFT kidney!
    Are you having surgery, too?
