Hello everyone. It has been some time since I posted on this site. I had a little set back a few weeks ago and have been recovering from my incision bursting open and letting it heal on its own, which it did. I will be starting chemotherapy on September 18th and I am a little nervous because I do not know what to expect. I had done well from my two surgeries and port placement without any complications whatsoever. I am also participating in an Avastatin chemotherapy trial. Has anyone heard of that drug?

    HI NERVOUS IS NORMAL THESE DAYS. ONCE YOU ACTUALLY START YOU WONT BE NERVOUS.I HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE CHEMO YOU ARE HAVING. I HAVE HAD SIX TREATMENTS SO FAR WITH TWO LEFT AND I HAVE TO SAY.IT ISNT AS BAD AS THE THINGS I THOUGHT UP IN MY HEAD BEFORE I HAD IT. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS TIRED. YOU WILL DO FINE KEEP STRONG AND KEEP PRAYING. WE ALL ARE STRONGER THAN WE THINK

    Hi, I haven't heard of the chemo you will be taking ,but I'm sure someone else will help you with info. I'm currently in treatment with 8 more chemos to go and the side effects have not been too bad. Make sure you get lots of rest and eat as healthy as you can. I was adviced to us Sensodyne toothpaste and to rinse with 1 tsp. of baking soda mixed with water to prevent mouth sores. Use plastic ware when eating so it doesn,t make the metallic taste in your mouth worse. I try to walk everyday for relaxation and exercise, that also helps my anxiety This site has been a wonderful help to me also. So many wise and knowledgeable people here with any advice you need.     you are healing from your incision bursting open. Gosh, that sounds bad. I have had two rounds of chemo so and before i started i was so nervous and scared. I think everyone can say that. It really isnt as bad as i thought it would be. Its boring having to sit there and wait for it to get done though! They sent nausea meds home with me and i take those and they work great. Biggest problem ive had is feeling tired and drained. And also developing a thrush like rash in my mouth. That sucks. And nothing tastes good. But overall, its nothing like i thought it would be. Its ok and i wish you luck.

    I too am in the avastin trial. I finished four rounds of A/C wth avastin or placebo last week. Hair is gone, had one hospitalization for fever, feeling tired and will be starting taxol next week. I am still smiling at my seven year old daughter most of the time. Side effects were not to bad if I stayed on the anti-nausea pill schedule they gave me.

    I am very sorry about what happened to you. I have never been on that drug, so, I am not much help about that. Just know that I am praying for you!

    Avastin trial
    I too was in the Avastin clinical study. I had a 40% chance of getting short term Avastin, 40% chance of long term and a 20% chance of placebo.
    Guess which one I got? The placebo!!
    So as I was sitting in the chair watching the IV drip it was Saline going into my body. But you know what? I figured that someone had to get the placebo and I took one for the team. If any of my sisters in pink out there benefit from this study it will be worth while. I do have to admit, though, that I was a little disappointed.
