Well, the onc that I "fired" last week, made it his personal mission to get back to me today with the MRI report he ordered before I left his care. The MRI was done on Wednesday of this week, and he called first thing this morning to let meknow there was no metestesis, but there were a couple of tears in the rotator cuff. I would probably need to see a specialist (orthopedic) in order to receive further treatment. Again, he asked if I would consider staying with him for future onc treatment, and I told him I was already scheduled to see the new onc next week, but thanked him for his time. It's really strange that you have to "blow up" over mistreatment before the doctor realizes there is a problem. Oh well, onward and upward. Just glad to hear there are no cancer problems with my arm. Have a good weekend, everyone. Hugs.

    You go, Judy!
Glad he called with the good results. He seems contrite about his inattentiveness, but you were right to stick to your guns. Thanks to you, he will probably treat his other patients with more compassion. You deserve major kudos!

So happy to hear no cancer!
Wow! It's amazing how people react when you have to put them in their place! Glad the doctor was able to give you good news and there's no cancer in your arm. However, the tears in your rotator cuff is nothing to balk about either. I'm sure that it is quite painful. Get that taken care of soon. Hope things go better with the new onc. next week!

    Take Care and God Bless,

I wanna be you when I grow
I wanna be you when I grow up!! Ok, I know I am the "old broad" here, but you are definitely the role model for how I should be! I am so proud of you for not backing down~and I am amazed about your old doctor trying to woo you back! What a grand ending! You rock!
Take care of that rotator cuff...and I am so glad it isn't cancer! Have a great weekend!

    Thanks everyone
Thank you for the responses...I always did think I was in the right, and you guys have just confirmed that. Claudia, you are not the "old broad"....I officially become old on September 13th, as I enter the world of Medicare. Turning 65 isn't scarey....the thought that I will now be dependent first upon the Federal Government to administer my health care is really scarey. Fortunately, I do have an excellent secondary insurance to fall back on, but the thought of making this change is making me nervous. So, here's to turning "old" on the 13th...just glad it doesn't fall on a Friday. Teehee! Hugs

See, that oncologist learned something from you, Judy, about how to treat his patients. Others will benefit from your speaking up. And, you move on to a better oncologist. You did a lot of good with that "blow up."

Looking forward to wishing you Happy Birthday on the 13th, which is not a Friday!

I am a health professional who works with children and families, I am known for being compassionate and usually get some of the patients that need more hand holding. etc... I think its partially because of what I have been through. Anyway through the years you learn by the positive and negative experiences and you gave him a "teaching" moment that will hopefully impact his future patients. You did the right thing if you dont advocate for yourself who will? We all have a right to be treated the way we need to be, Happy for your good report, a rotator cuff though no fun is a better alternative!

Well then, I still have time
Well then, I still have time to learn, don't I??? Awesome~ if I get it right, I think I will have to change my name to Maxine~ now that "old broad" is a kick in the pants!

Enjoy your weekend! And maybe, if we're lucky, Obama will get that health care package passed by next week!

    Hi Judy
You are one gutsy lady and you dont take any c--p from anyone, I can tell. Maybe he will think twice before he treats his next patient the same way.

On a positive note, I am glad your shoulder issue is ortho related, though a tear in the rotator cuff is no fun either.

WTG Judy! Great results! So, the doctor called you back? Maybe, he realized that he wasn't doing his job so well. Doesn't matter, you have moved on! Good luck with your shoulder!

    Kudos Judy!!
Way to go. What a great service you did to all the women who will follow behind you when they see this Onc. Not glad to hear about your rotator cuff though. What were your symptoms? I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon and an orthopedic doc to find out what is going on with my shoulder and arm. Rad Onc thinks I should see nuero doc and Med Onc thinks I sould see ortho doc. Hubby thinks I should go to both. I think I see too many docs!! Trying to decide if I should cancel one of them. Pammy

    j916, you might want to
j916, you might want to start another thread on this questions. Sometimes questions don't get answered properly because board members don't peruse the older posts. My onc did order an MRI after I completed by chemo and radiation, if that helps. Please post a separate thread, and I am sure you will hear from lots of folks about their personal experience. Hugs,

    Yikes
I am so sorry Judy. I must have missed this thread. I want to say how proud I am of you too, for standing up for yourself. We all need to learn that sometimes, a lot of times, we just have to take control of our own treatment. And, I am so very happy that it isn't cancer. I am sorry that it is your shoulder though. I hope it can be repaired easily.
