Boston Area Robotic/Laparoscopic Urologist / Ongologist

Looking to consult with an Ongologist around the BOSTON, AREA. Wondering if any of our group knows or had experience with an Urologist / Ongologist who is good and well experienced with Robotic / Laparoscopic and "tissues / nerve-sparing" prostate procedures (very important to me). Thanks in advance. Just got the news. I am 57 very active and my deit is 98% animal fat free for the past 30 years. No medical problems at all. PSA 3.4 biobsy 3 out 12 3+3's all. Gleason 6.

    Mass daVinci surgeons

    To be certified by the manufacturer they have to attend training then complete 20 procedures. A daVinci surgeon my son knows said the learning curve is very steep and it's best to find someone that has done at least 100 procedures. My son is a surgeon and he said it is not unusual, or insulting, for a patient to ask how many of a specific procedure he has done, how recent and how often he does it. My surgeon is in the top 10 in the world with >1700 procedures currently does >200/year and now limits his practice to daVinci, someone on the net said his surgeon had done >3000.     I think the doctors doing prostrate surgery, open and daVinci, are not oncologists but urologists. They typically do 1 or 2 years of a general surgery residency in conjunction with their urology residency.

    Good luck, we're in a club that really sucks, regretably there are a lot of us and it seems to be a very close knit and supportive group.
