I just noticed that you have fibromyalgia as well as the ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed with fibro in february and am on Savella (a very new med!) and flexeril(sp? I have generic of course). And was doing really well until three weeks ago. Then I started with this major exhaustion. Really it's beyond even what I've felt with the fibro before meds. Just getting up to pee seems like a hundred mile hike.

I guess my question is this...how do you know what symptoms to attribute to fibro and which to be more worried about? Today my lower left side (in the back) is killing me. Sharp stabbing pains. It actually started just left of my tailbone and migrated up and over. I'm wondering if it's not a kidney infection because I always seem to get really fatigued before I come down with them. The trouble would be I'm allergic to all the prescription antibiotics they give for them and have to go to ER for IV. Also I have a "funny" pain on my right side right next to my belly button today. Not funny in a haha sense, but funny in an I can't really describe it sense.

Anybody think these sound familiar?

    My fibromyalgia is very mild and other than OTC pain meds I usually don't take anything for it. I was in a clinical study for the fibromyalgia for over a year that ended in Jan 09. The theory behind the medicine I was given is that people with this condition don't sleep soundly. The Xyrum I was given helped me sleep more deeply and helped with muscle fatigue a lot. I noticed almost immediately after going off the medicine increased lower back pain. I thought, right up until surgery, that it was due to the fibro but now I wonder if it was the first indication of OVCA. (My surgery was originally a laparoscopic hysterectomy for fibroids. I had an ultra sound in Dec 08, scheduled surgery for March 09, and the cancer was discovered during surgery - NO indication on ultrasound! The right ovary had grown to 4x normal size in less than 4 months!)

    I have had stabbing pains off and on for a few years - on the left side, usually attributed to a cyst on my left ovary. The problem with ovarian cancer is that it "whispers": the symptoms are vague and attributable to many different conditions. What I now think is that the symptoms I had for many years due to fibroids intensified when I developed OVCA. I was VERY fortunate that I decided to have the hysterectomy since due to my other conditions it would have been very easy to overlook the possibility of ovarian cancer until it was in a very advanced stage.

    I know you have been struggling with your health system and trying to be seen as early as possible. I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope that your doctor gets you in for needed tests and treatments very soon and, better yet, that what is causing your pain is much more benign than what you fear.
