Thank you both, for your info. What I didn`t ask was how often was this kind of Carb given to you? (weekly monthly..) Thanks to your info I gave the Dr. the exaple of you both but since we live in Mexico and things are different I was thinking he was going to say no since I already had asked him that if he the carb would have been given slowly maybe she wouldn´t have had the reaction.. and he said that the 150mg of carb were to be given in a half an hour but he had ordered the nurse to give in in 1 hour.. and so this could not be diven to her any more. So the other day I called him and insisted on this procedure.. and he agreed.. I little different.. today (2 days before chemo)my Mom will be having a shot of 8mg of Alín wich he said are the steroids.. on chemo day she willl be having this IV.. 15 min before chemo a pill called clorotrimeton wich is an antiestaminc for allergic reactions. Then another pill starting chemo day until Tuesday. The chemo will be prepared in the double amount of solution and given in 3 hours.... I would have prefered to hear 6 hrs like you but.. this was the option given and I´n hoping and praying hard that this time she can get all the carb dose.. wich was what made her come home, come of the nasogastric tube, and get a little better after hearing that she would be dead in 2 or 3 weeks at that time. She is week and starting with pain again. Please have us in your prayers. Liz

    Always In Our Prayers
Liz when they desensitized me the 1st time they had me in hospital over night and dripped it very slowly probably 10 hours. Then when they saw I had no reaction I got it once a month and I would go and have my premeds then the 6 and half hour drip. I believe I had steriods and stomach med zofran. My Dr. who did my surgery St Vincent's Hospital Indiana that I seen once in a while told me about this. He is a gyno/oncologist and was the one who sent me to cancer center in Muncie Indiana Ball Hospital For chemo in the first place. AFter my dr in Muncie retired my dr from INdie is the one that told me about the desensitation. I told my new Dr. which I love too, and he said I could do it in Muncie also. He got the info from my surgeon who visits and sees patients in Muncie and consoles with these Drs in Muncie and it really helped me for a while. Sometimes chemo stops working then you have to get another kind then sometimes you can go back to what you used before. Its crazy but its worked on me. Sounds like Bonnie has had success too.
