Once you have chosen to have a DaVinci Robotic Radical Prostatectomy, how have you, who have done so, gone about choosing your surgeons?

    Choosing Surgeon
Hi Judge, I had my robotic surgery 6 days ago and I am extremely pleased with my surgeon. After 3 very stressful and frustrating months of talking to urologists, one of whom told me that the Da Vinci surgery was nothing more than a marketing scheme, I simply went to the Da Vinci website http://davincisurgery.com/index.aspx?id=it&gclid=CI2grMnw9ZgCFRhhnAodrBR40w and they have a surgeon look-up tool based on your location. I called and set up two consults and chose my surgeon. I asked to-the-point questions as well as realistic questions and asked for the same in his responses, his experience, successes etc. I wish you the best and there are many here as well as myself that would be glad to answer any questions you may have about the surgery.

    The right choice
    Good evening Judge
I had the robotic surgery December 8th, 2008. When I started my research, at least 50 seemed to be the "experienced" bench mark for the surgeons. My Urologist had almost 200 so I was very fortunate. I asked the direct questions as well. Those that are more focused on quality of life issues such as: what were their success rates for nerve sparing and ED problems. I had a successful surgery and recovery. I only wore depends for 3 days and I have minimal ED issues, and its been less than 3 months.
Pray about it and then go with the surgeon you feel most comfortable with.
    Good luck
