Hi Everyone,
I have been here since 2004. The first 2-3 years I was more active here. So were alot of others who have also drifted away from the discussions. I think as we got better and got on with our lives we just got busy. I never did stop reading the posts though. Everyone is new and I don't know any of you but I do know we all travel the same road. I am here today to share that I am 5 years NED as of yesterday. I was stage 3 rectal cancer. It was a very hard road. I had a very difficult time but I am here to give you all hope and encouragement. Have faith and patience. Peace to you all.

    thank you
I started my journey with diagnosis in jan of 05 but I knew I was ill for most of 04. How wonderful to hear from you. Thank you for checking in....it does give one hope.
It is a hard road and it is so great to know that there are people who pass through these rough roads.
    Thanks so much

Thank you so much for the encouragement. It is really good to hear from people who are NED as my husband is just beginning this journey. He had his surgery yesterday. Chemo to come.
    Thanks.

    5 year Milestone
Congratulations on celebrating the 5 years being NED!! That is most excellent!! The more and more we hear of Stage III and IV patients who make the 5 year milestone anniversary, the more and more we are proving the statistics to be soooo out of date and wrong. But even more important, every story of success gives someone who has just been DX'd and is terrified, reason to have hope again.. that not all is dark and dismal.

Thank you for posting ... and it's true, it is so natural for one to move on in life, once you have gotten better. That is such a GOOD THING! I bet there are so many more who have succeeded and moved on with life, so we don't hear from them, but they are out there!! That's why it is so nice when a few of you come back to remind us there is a light at the end of the tunnel :)

    Hugggggs,

    Cheryl

    BIG CONGRATS
    Hi drummer,
Great to hear a voice of an old timer; Celebrate the great news! I am right behind you, having passed 4 and a half years since end of chemo....I'm hoping for fireworks on the 4th of July (which we celebrate by going to a music fest each year).
I continue to lurk and check in here every so often, but you are right, we get back to our every day lives, with gratitude and prayers for those still in this fight.
I'm glad to be a stage 3 survivor who can report that it does get better; enjoy the rest of your life!
Big hug and dance of happiness, Judy

    Bless you for posting what
Bless you for posting what you did!! I too was a long time surviver and drifted off. I joined the group back in 2005 and sort of went down my own path. Having had the awesome support the first time around, I knew just where to come back to when I had my second and third dance with the beast in 2007 and 2008.

    Blessings to you!

    great news!
Thanks for sharing! I came in sporadically when I was first diagnosed, but I found it really hard to be faced with it day in and day out so I stopped coming. When I had my recurrence, I found it to be very helpful and have been on fairly consistent since. Good luck with your continued NED!

    The C Word (not cancer)
After 5 years, you have earned the C word - cured! Congrats. Your story will give hope to many of the newbies. I've been around for almost 3 years and have been NED since my resection. Please keep checking in and retelling your story for the benefit of those new to the site. You're an inspiration for all who are fighting the beast.
