Hi semi-colons,

I was thinking the other day about all of the people and things and events I love. I thought it would be nice to reflect on these with a list - starting now - please add your own thoughts

- My wife and kids
- my parents and extended family and friends
- Music - all kinds, classical, jazz, pop, reggae, country, heavy rock
- playing music on my own or with other people
- sound of snow crunching under foot
- smell of freshly mowed lawn
- palm trees
- Blue Jays winning World Series in the 90's twice
- Toronto Maple Leafs (unfortunately)
- view from the dock at the cottage
- lemon meringue pie
- the fudge my grandmother used to make

You get the idea. Let us all remember what we love in life and cherish every minute. Defeat the spectre of the beast by loving and remembering.

Cheers,
Lance

Spending time with my husband - looking into his incredible blue eyes and seeing the love he has for me.

My daughter, so full of life (literally, she's pregnant) and laughter. Her peace with life.

My son, his intense sense of who he is. Hearing him play his guitar and sing quietly when he thinks no one is listening (except God).

My son-in-law and the way he loves my daughter - and finds joy who she is. His integrity.

My daughter-in-law and the way she loves my son - and the way she accepts him and the rest of us, all without question. Her loyalty.

I love the mountains, covered with snow.
I love the ocean and the sound it makes.
Sunshine and clouds. The color yellow.

Children - laughing at something so incredibly silly we old folks don't get it. The way a certain pair of shoes can be the most important thing in their life. Their ability to trust.

My cat all curled up in my lap, wanting nothing more than a warm, comfortable spot to lay.

I love that sweet birthday cake that makes you feel like you're going to throw up after the second piece, but you still go for the third. I love birthdays and celebrating one more year with all the people and things I love.

I love my life. With all the ups and downs - even with the cancer - I would not change a moment of it.

I start chemo/radiation this morning, so it's a good time to reflect:

My dear husband
My daughter & son-in-law
My 3 grandsons - the loves of my life!
My doctors, all of whom are kind, smart and in the kick-butt mode
My many, many friends
Colorado sunsets (last night was spectacular!)
The mountains
Dragonflies - my personal good luck charms
Trees - is there anything more beautiful?
CHOCOLATE!

Thanks for this post!
Vicki

I have really enjoyed reading everyones lists and it struck a familiar cord for me. There is one thing that we seem to agree on and understand that so many around me don't. What we really, truly love is the mundane. The simple everyday things that we took for granted prior to our cancer that became a huge source of joy during treatment. My best days are the simplest and it makes it hard sometimes to explain what a wonderful time I had.

*snuggling on the sofa with my husband

*family game night (my sons have outgrown this with college and all, but try to endulge me since I'm sick -- play the cancer card when you can!)

*pizza/Survivor night with my God daughters

*holidays with my family that drives me nuts

*change of seasons - each and every one of them

*listening/singing/dancing to 70's rock

*football parties

*vacation

*long walks with my husband or my best girlfriend

*dinner out

*long hot bathes on a cold day

You have such good insight, Kimby!

I always say, when asked for advice about a newly-diagnosed survivor by a relative or friend, "Give them normal, it's what we all crave!". And you are right! All of these things we have listed are about 'normal'!

Hugs, Kathi

I'm sure the list could go on and on and just as I stop writing, I could think of more. I do this actually on an ongoing basis as part of my visualization process. I'm a firm believer in what you visualize and think about, you can also achieve... so I create visualization lists and visualization boards :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE...

- my wonderful friends
- my precocious, diva, miniature-schnauzer whose name is Bridget
- being warm and cozy inside on a cold, snowy/rainy day
- getting lost in a book and giving myself the time to hunker down to read it
- spending time with friends in Hawaii on a sun-drenched beach
- cooking for friends
- having the warm, fuzzy, feelings for that special someone, with no strings attached
- a warm hug and kiss for all those special someones :)
- honesty
- hot chocolate
- laughing so hard that the tears come and we've forgotten what we were laughing at
- Christmas dinner with friends, after all the "family stress" is over and behind us.
- reunions
- newborn babies
- puppies
- a clean apartment!!! :D

Hugggggs,

Cheryl
