I had my ileo reversed a week ago wednesday, I was released from the hospital on friday and am feeling probably as good as you can in this situation. Other than the MULTIPLE bm's, but even those are slowly getting better (i think....i don't want to jinx myself). I know this is an odd question, but when do the bm's get any sort of familiar form or are they loose for a long time? I never thought I would spend my days pondering my poop.
This week I get my staples out and meet with the oncologist to see when we start chemo. Boy am I nervous about the FOLFOX.

    I too am pondering the Folfox treatments. I had a colostomy that isn't going to be reversible but I still was told that Post Op Chemo Oxyplatin? with leucovorin as a chemo enhancer was needed in a 6 month regimen at 2 week intervals, 3 hours at Office then 46 hrs with fanny pack then 2 more hours on Weds. every other week for 6 months. This is just precautionary as my cancer was all removed with no lymph node involvement. I will be going back to work while doing this and hope that I can do both. I work shift work so we will see I guess. We always want everything as fast as we can get it but be patient with the resection, it will be well worth it as soon as everything is normal again, and it will get that way for you.     I would like to give my 2 cents on the FLOFOX chemo regime. I was DX Stage II with no nodes and no signs of spreading in 7/06 and was told by my surgeon and oncologist that due to my age, 42, and industry standard, I should consider post op precuationary chemo to make sure that there were no micro-cancer cells remaining, so after alot of discussions and thought I decided to go for it.

    I received a magnesium and calcium 20 minute IV drip first, then pre-meds, and then for 4 hours received, Oxy and Lecovorin and then my 46 hour 5FU pump. This treatment was every other week for 6 months for a total of 12 treatments. I got a port-o-cath implanted due to conditions that chemo can have on your veins.

    Yes, you do experience side effects, but everyone's DNA is different so not everyone gets the same side effects.

    It is a hard decision to make, but is a decision YOU must make on your own.
