Hey All My Sisterhood,
Since the chat room has been down for several weeks, I find that I am in a total withdrawal. I miss hearing how everyone is doing and what is going on their lives. I feel disconnected with each of you because I found that I chatted daily and was really feeling connected with a "team of sisters/brothers".
My update: I am feeling really good although tired much of the time. I did have my first year celebration that was incredible with so many friends and family visiting my new house. My visit with my oncologist was good but when they took the blood sample, the CPK levels(enzymes in the muscle) were high apparently and near the 300 mark which they aren't sure why. I had my heart scan and it looked pretty good. I still have 3 or the 4 heart valves leaking but this time one had improved. This was from effects of the chemo. My liver is not any worse and should improve with time. I had a bone scan today to see if the CPK and the bones are connected. The nurses are fantastic. My genetic testing came in today with my BRACA1 and 2 being negative (great). I will have another CPK test in two weeks and they are adding ANA (check for rheumatoid arthritis) just in case that is why the CPK is high. Overall I feel good.
Great News: I'm heading to a 7 day cruise for the Southern Caribbean with my brother/wife and OBF(old best friend). I have decided to get a spray tan so I will be looking marvelous. I've never done this before. I purchased my first "thong" today and at the age that thongs should be worn on my feet. I figured with the spray tan, I wanted to cover my entire rump so it did not look so large and white. If anyone has visited Aruba lately, please give some advise as to what to do. Please email me with any suggestions. Life is great and my OBF's are fantastic. I hope to get updates for all to see with how each of you have been (doing/good/bad/ugly). Also, any updates with others on chat (Sound, etc). I miss my sisterhood gal chats and the Tuesday nights. Lots of love, Angela

I also miss the chat room. I am feeling good. My mammogram in Feb was clean and all tests come out good. Then two weeks ago I was hit with a bombshell and needed my sisters. My brother died suddenly. Undetected lung cancer with mastastases in his bones, liver, and brain caused his death. He passed away two weeks after DX. It was deiscovered when he complained of pain in his hip. What scares me is I have had lower back pain and hip pain for years. There are other symptoms that have been part of my life since long before cancer. How do I know if these pains become something new such as cancer? This just has my head spinning. My mother also died because of undiagnosed colon cancer. Both were 62 years old. I am 60 and plan to be around long past 62 but getting through the next two years is scary.

    Hi Angela,

Sounds like you are doing well, that is wonderful! I miss the chat room too, sure hope it comes back soon.

I had my CT scan two weeks ago and it came back unremarkable, YIPPEE! I was so glad! I also had a blood work-up that turned out good as well. They were concerned that my cholesterol is up a bit so I may have to go on meds for that, but it isn't too high so we will see. Saw my oncologist last week and he says I am doing just fine which is always nice to hear.

Sure do miss chatting with everyone. Your cruise sounds like a blast! We are preparing for our two week vacation to N.Y., Boston, Niagara Falls and Washington D.C. it is coming up in May and we can hardly wait.

    Hugs to all!

    Linda,
Talk with your oncologist with your concerns and they can request a bone scan or a PET scan. Do talk with them. I'm so sorry about your brother and it must really be hard. My prayers are with you and your family. Angela

    Hey Rena,
Glad to hear all the good news. My cholestrol was up and I started eating oatmeal every morning. It worked and began coming down. Miss you, Angela

I am chowing down on the oatmeal too since the last blood test was starting to show a rise in LDL cholesterol. That never happened on tamoxifen, but now I am on exemestane. I am wondering what else I can do besides oatmeal, oatbran, and exercise. I do not want more meds!
