Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement and I will definitely look for the chat room to reopen and get to "meet" you.

    Please know that you are not alone. I have metastatic breast cancer, too and I hear you! It is scary when you get the news that the cancer has become stage four. May I ask where your cancer has spread? How are you feeling? Like everyone here, I would like to help in anyway I can.

    I found out last year that the cancer had spread into my thoracic and lumbar spine. When my onc told me, I was so shocked I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. How could I have bone cancer? I felt great! Well... except for some pain in my lumbar area... oh, and some shoulder and mid back pain, but other than that, I couldn't be better. This all happened about the same time it became public that Elizabeth Edwards cancer had returned into her bones, and that there was no cure for her. I kept thinking about her and about me and how this could all happen. I was stunned.
    Once the shock wore off, I got a little better with each day. Mentally at least, and I found that the pain was and is managable.

    So a year later, I am still here and alive and thriving! Arthritis has set in where the cancer is, but there are so many things that help manage it. Pain pills (obviously), heating pads, neck warmers, swimming, a magnetic back roller, and a shiatsu back massager on the passenger side of our van all help me manage the pain.

    I don't know where your cancer has spread to, and even if it is in your bones, or your liver, or some other place, but wherever it is, it doesn't have to be a death sentence. At least not NOW. And NOW is all that matters.

    The other day, completely on a whim, I bought a doggie stroller for my little pom. I am not rich. The money could have gone to bills but the enjoyment I get from walking my little doggie around the block is soooo worth it. I have accepted that I am the neighborhood nut. I don't care.
