edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
Hey Everyone, I marked my five years as a breast cancer survivor in July. It will be five years on January 1 that I would be taking tamoxifen. I didn't start it when I should have because I was afraid of the side effects. But the side effects were minimal or I just got use to them.

My question is: Did any of you have any physical withdrawl symptoms when you stopped taking tamoxifen. I mean like does your hair fall out, do you gain weight, do you get hot flashes. Anything like that. You know what I mean. Do you feel weird once the tamoxifen is out of your body?

I'm waiting for an answer from my doctor, I forgot to ask that question. But you all have given me so much more information over these years then any medical professional ever did. Hope you can share some of your experiences. Thanks and Stillgood!!!!!

I finished tamoxifen in March of this year. While on it I had some fatigue. Within 3 weeks of finishing, my energy came back to about 97% and is still there. I had no hotflashes, nothing like that. I am still premenopausal, so my body is feeling better with some estrogen in it. My body feels much younger than it did during all the cancer treatments. Good luck to you!

Congratulations on your 5yr survival mark. That alone must feel wonderful. Tamoxifen is a weak estrogen.....really weak, so I think you're going to feel absolutely fantastic once your done with it and your own estrogen kicks in.
    Best of Luck

No withdrawl. Then, I went on Femara. No side effects generally but I am probably developing osteoporosis, a side effect. I have a dexascan scheduled next week to check on that.
