I had a bilateral mastectomy on March 20th of this year so this is going to be my first winter with my new breast. Is it just me but my left breast which was the cancer breast is starting to throb now that the weather has gotten cooler. Also do you feel like sometimes you have something tied around your chest and your skin is prickly.

Consider it your weather vane! i didn't have reconstruction so I don't know about the "tied around your chest and your skin prickly" where I had my mastectomy, that gets prickly sometimes. I think it is just the nerve endings playing around?!?!?

My mastectomy site throbs a lot, tightens at night it seems....now lymphedema....put a flax seed bag on it, helps.....:)

I can only relate to the 'prickly' feeling - after my surgery (lumpectomy/sentinel node) my arm, armpit and parts of my breast have that burning/prickly sensation. what is a pain the most is even just touching those sections hurts. My oncologist says it the nerve endings firing and not connecting. I'm hoping it goes away soon - even hugging my b'friend is painful at times. hope you feel better soon too!

I don't think the weather has changed anything for me so far. I haven't had any reconstruction done yet, but my surgical site is often very sore and sometimes even the softest clothing can irritate it. We've had a lot of nerve damage done and that can take along time to heal. Here's hoping for a quick recovery for all of us. :)
    cheers

    Hi Jackie,
I had a left br mast in september, I still have that feeling of tightness across my chest, feels like someone forgot to let go..lol(or was that my boob trying to say no..i wont go!!)...also, I get pains and the prickly feeling thru my incision area which seems irritated by the prothesis...almost wishing I had the bilateral.
