My father had his surgery on February 20, 2007 now 1 month later he is doing great. His scares have almost healed, he has full urinery control and is still doing the keagal exercises. I believe he has had some sensations in the area. But all in do time. As of now every thing looks good as we await the first post surgery blood test.

Great news. Did they do any biopsies during the surgery (i.e lymph nodes, vesticles etc)?
I had my surgery on 12/27/07. All biopies were clear. I go for my first post op PSA on 4/12.

Glad to hear your father is doing well. How old is he?

I'm 52 and had my surgery two years ago (Oct 2004). I'm doing well but have a pitiful erection. I'm excellent in the continence department. I am very happy to be alive and thank the progress of medicine for my early detection and second chance to have a long life. I expect to be around for me and for my young children.

I hope your father continues to do well. Note that your chances are greater of developing the same disease so be sure to have your doctor begin your PSA screenings sooner, like 40ish. Don't wait until the standard practice to start screening at the age of 50.

    Good luck and take care.
