My husbands cat scan today showed some highlighting around his liver tumors. we are way excited as he is on a program of lots of supplements that are supposed to first highlight the tumors and then shrink them. He is stage 4 and has been on chemo for over a year with only shrinkage the first round of chemo. Anyone have any experiences with highlighting? This is all new to us, but there also appears to be some shrinkage of the tumors, we are waiting on the official report.

    Hi Sandy,

I don't have anything to add. Just wanted to send you good vibes that what you are doing is working. What kind of supplements is he on? As you know, a lot of us here take supplements to help with our immune system and some juice to get the vitamins the natural way. HUGS.

Lisa, I will get the name of the company and drugs. It used to be a research project through univ. of New Mexico but now they are private. He takes around 35 pills per day and has a liquid deal he takes at night. A lot of the pills are things that I have read about from everyone and from books. Funny thing is we were planning to go on your system if we didn't see any shrinkage this time. He has changed his diet significantly and still needs to make major changes. He is amazing as he used to be a meat and potatoes couch potato, that is totally out of his comfort zone!

    sandyig,
What do they mean by highlighting? Usually with that term I think of something like the PET scan and in that case it is not a good sign. Is this different?

The drug people have been telling us that the first sign that the drugs/supplements are working is the area around the tumors being "highlighted". The cat scan tech also told my husband that this highlighting is usually new tissue growth around the tumor, and this was a good thing as it is starting to heal itself. Goodness knows I am so confused. I am just hopeful as it is suppposed to be what precedes the shrinkage of the liver tumors. We have a dr. appt monday with our wonderful oncologist to review the scan. He has CT scans every 6 weeks and has had for over a year. My husband did look at the scan in the CT room (as he always does) and thinks things look better. Let's all say a prayer for my man!!!
