I surived my first visit of many to my oncologist, monday. He told me my cancer was in the first stage, no treatments of chemo involved.
I asked him about diets, none nessary, He is going to be doing genetic testing on me, and then also come back for thenext visit in 6 months, and to have a blood test before I come.
This doctor is really on top of things.
When I mentioned my ovaries to him, he never said anything about removing them. He kept mentioning breast cancer to me.

Thank heavens we have doctors like this. Colonoscopy in 6 months and then one a year after that for the next ten oro more years, and then they can be spaced out after that.

    Hi Ladybug,

Glad your vist was good with the onc and the good news. NO CHEMO!!! Celebrate. About the diet. If you talk to others here, most oncs don't do "diets". I believe you should now watch what you eat and eat healthier. If you go the book by Patrick Quinlan,"Beating Cancer with Nutrition" you will see how you can change your diet so the big C hopefully never comes back. Good luck and great news! Take care.

    Hi Ladybug -

Great news! Consider yourself lucky and take this as a sign to alter anything in your lifestyle that might encourage cancer. I am so happy for you. You may not feel all that lucky now, but you are really lucky to have a wakeup call while just being Stage I.

    Take care and best wishes,
    Betsy

    Yea! Doing the happy dance!

BUT he's right, many women (darn it) will end up with colon/breast cancer...I DID...both were primary sites...something called the Lynch syndrome...just be vigilant about your breast exams!
    Hugs, Kathi
