This one's from Reader's Digest:

A marine biologist was telling his friends about some of his most recent research findings.

"Some whales can communicate at a distance of 300 miles" he said.

"What the he** would one whale say to another 300 miles away?" asked his sarcastic friend.

"I'm not absolutely sure," the expert said, "but it sounds something like 'Can you hear me now?' "

hehehehe

    Hi Kathi,
Kathy R. here. Just wanted you to know how uplifting it is to see your e-mails. I even check out the Colon Site because a lot of you other survivors are a tremendous help and you definately have some comedians on that site.
I do have a question for you though. I'm 51 and have my yearly physical coming up and my doc will give me that little kit you take home and do your sample thing and mail it back. Now, I've read on that site that at age 50 they just require you to do a Colonoscopy regardless. Is that what I will have to look forward to in June when I go in for my physical? Keep up the humor! ((HUGS and LOTS of LAUGHS))!!!
    and have a great weekend!
    Kathy R.
PS. I didn't have to take the colon test kit home with me last year because I was diagnosed with B/C.

Hey, Kathy, isn't it Great turning 50...colonoscopies, hot flashes, menopause, etc!

I think what you got is a fecal blood test. Kinda messy (have to capture stool, smear on, etc) but it looks for the first symptom of colorectal cancer...blood in the stool that the eye may miss.
A colonoscopy IS recommended at age 50, for both men and women, and since, if you read in my response to the post here about this...colorectal cancer CAN be PREVENTED by snipping off any little "babies" (polyps) that they find during the test.
As you might have seen in the CRC board, the PREP for this test can be kinda "hard to swallow" (hehehe) BUT I'd take 5 in exchange for the chemo, rad, surgery that I had to have instead.

    Hugs,
    Kathi
