CT/PET Scan

Hi Friends,

On Wednesday I met with my oncologist for a follow up appointment. It's been two years since my diagnosis of Stage 3 colon cancer. I received a colon resection followed with the Folfox regimen. My original CT scan showed three small spots on my lung. The largest of the three was biopsied and found to be a hamartoma. The other two were assumed to be noncancerous as well. My subsequent CT scans have shown no change in these lesions. However, my oncologist wants to be diligent so he ordered a PET scan which I will have today at 3:00. I got my CEA level back yesterday and it was 1.3. It has continued to go lower since chemo completion when it was at 2.3. I hesitate to even mention my tests when so many of you are having to worry about more than just the results of scans. Please know that all of you have a special place in my heart and I wish and pray for the best for each of you and your loved ones.

Hugs,

Kay

Kay (and anyone else this applies to),

Please, please, please don't hesitate to post your worries, concerns, great news, bad news, whatever. I used to think that my posting of good news or good results were unwanted when there were others who have so much more to worry about. What you need to remember is that your GOOD news spreads HOPE and ENCOURAGEMENT not to mention good feelings which are healing. Your posting your worries over pending tests lets others know that they aren't the only ones to worry and so on.

When I first came here, much of my comfort came from the fact that I WASN'T ALONE. Others were going through the same tests/thought processes/feelings and so on. I was really beginning to wonder if I was going crazy or just negative because I worried. Now, I know that there are others just like me that are worried too.

May you receive NED over and over again and may your PET and CT's come back clean.

    Take care,

    Patricia

    Hi Kay,
Good luck with the PET scan and (especially) best wishes for the results. GLad to hear the CT scan showed nothing scary. Please don't hesitate to share anything -- but especially don't hesitate to share good news. I enjoy every opportunity for a celebration!
