Hi everyone. Thanks to every single person who responded to me... you all are so great. Made me feel very loved and special. Please give yourselves a hug from me. :)

My onc and I have decided to start with CPT-11 & Erbitux this weekend. Then, if no scary reactions, we will add avastin in 2 wks. He told me if I say to go for it, then we will. I yelled, "let's go for it." I emailed my neurologist for any advice and he agrees, but said he will do more research about my clotting disorder and avastin. I will just give myself daily injections of lovenox (no biggie for me) and take all 3 chemo agents.

My dad is actually a pulmonary specialist. He is more comfortable waiting for surgery. He said the research he found said to do chemo first. All of this makes me feel much better.

I am not taking xeloda/5FU anymore. I have already taken it for 3 different cycles, and appearantly, my cancer kicked it's butt. So I am on to bigger and better drugs. Hopefully I will still be able to work through all of this. I am currently working 4 days a week, but I'll drop down if I get too tired. The other docs I work with are so nice and supportive. It is all good.

Now, the crazy feelings are beginning. I went to the gym yesterday and felt like I could feel something in my right chest where I know the tumor is - pretty sure it is all just in my head, but I CAN'T wait to start chemo. And, I get a weird sensation on the outside of my left leg at times. It doesn't make sense with any nerve distribution, but I am a little scared. I will tell the onc about it next time I see him.

That is all here.
Oh, I got an Ipod nano from my husband. he ordered it for me after my surgery. He had it inscribed with "Baby I love you".... how sweet he is!!! Sorry, had to brag for a second.

Hope you all are doing well. jana

Hi Jana. You sound like you are in good spirits.

I'm glad to hear that you are starting a new treatment, so you can put the cancer in it's proper place. I would be doing chemo right now, but the oncologist said I was too sick (have had intense diarrhea lately) so he gave me a week off and he mentioned switching me to CPT-11 and Erbitux in the near future since the 5FU is taking a most unpleasant toll on me. I'm interested in how it goes for you. Congratulations on the new Ipod.

I'm really pulling for you, as I'm sure that everyone else is.

    Hi Jana,

It sounds like you have a great plan, and all of your doctors are staying on top of things. I am so glad you beginning your chemo and putting surgery off until a later date....especially if your dad feels that this is best. Remember, "Father Knows Best!"

I will be interested in what your oncologist says about the wierd feeling in your leg. I had the same prior to my diagnosis. It was as though I could feel the blood running through my legs. After chemo it went away. It wasn't painful...just different.

I'll be sending positive vibes and well wishes your way. Be sure and listen to your body and cut back on work if things get too hectic for you.

Please keep us posted and remember...you are loved.

    Hugs,

    Kay

    Jana,

I'm so glad that you are approaching this with a plan that sounds successful. I'll be sending you positive thoughts. Your attitude and approach to this beast is an inspiration.

What a totally sweet gesture your husband made. That made me smile.

    Giving you my prayers,

I knew that there was something else I wanted to say. In regards to your being able to feel where the tumor is (real or imagined) I'm curious as to how many people feel this way. When I was diagnosed, I would swear that I could feel where the cancer was. After going through treatment, I am much more aware about how my body functions and every little "pain" or "discomfort" used to make me into a hypocondraic (sp?). I try to still make note and pay attention without freaking out wondering if it is cancer. Let us know what your Onc says.
