Hi all,

I am looking for some information on macrobiotics for my boss's cousin who has breast cancer. She has a book by Elaine Nussbaum but I remember some posts from quite awhile back with regard to some books on the subject. I thought the author of those books was of oriental descent. I think it may have been Emily that posted about them.

Anyway, she was doing well and just found out that there are spots on her spine and sternum. She has been trying to follow a macrobiotic approach. She is 40 years old and has 3 young children and is starting to lose hope. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Deneen

    Hi Deneen,

the book you may be thinking of is:

The Cancer Prevention Diet by Michio Kushi

A good testimony book to accompany that is:

When Hope Never Dies by Marlene McKenna.

She healed her "incurable" malignant melanoma after being given 6 months to live.

Her "complete program for wellness, including a total cancer-fighting diet; healing massage, oriental medicine and natural remedies; exercise and stress-relief; as well as prayer and spiritual healing."

What I have read and in my research most folks who take a holistic approach do the best--ie, mind-body-spirit connection. Allopathic (western medicine) does not approach healing in this manner. They separate entities and ignore the connection. They "cut, burn, poison" but rarely do they heal the underlying problem. Cancer is a symptom but it is perceived as the disease as a whole. When diets are not changed or lifestyles or attitudes the struggle often remains.

I know my sister had the most positive attitude of anyone I have ever known. But she refused to stick to a good diet. She tried for awhile. Then she gave up. I sure wish she were here now. I wish she were here to cheer me on....to go running with me....to share sister secrets with.....to swap bragging rights about our kids' successes....to share an inside joke only sisters are privy to......

Anyway....didn't mean to hijack your thread but I just want to emphasize the importance of diet in cancer healing....not to mention all the other things that Marlene did that I mention from her book.

    Hope this helps.

peace, emily who is in a nostalgic mood missing her sis (can you tell?)
