    I did. I did not have Gleevac after surgery to remove the tumour.

    Had a 10 pounder removed in '05. By the middle of '06 my abdomen was full of tumors again. My new oncologist put me on Gleevec. Within one month I could feel the tumors shrinking. I've been on Gleevec for 5 months now. Very few if any side effects. I go in next week for first CT since starting chemo. As far as drugs for cancer goes, this seems to be one of the easiest to get through.

    side effects of Gleevec

    I have just had surgery to remove a GIST and have been directed to start on Gleevec and was wondering if anyone on the board is currently taking Gleevec and what side effects can I expect?

    I am taking Gleevec for CML. The side effects have been terrible. My digestive tract is ashambles. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to tolerate it better.
