Radiation induced Pneumonia

Has anyone ever heard or had radiation induced pneuomina? I have a cough that and some scarring on my right lung in which the oncologist has been watching closely. He says there could be a couple of things causing the cough. One of the suggestions was that because the scarring was so severe a mild pneumonia caused by radiation has set in which is typical for survivors around 6-9 months to feel the affects. He is not for sure and I still have to see a pulmonary specialist, but I wanted to see if anyone had heard of this or even had this condition?
