Well, except for some degeneration that is normal to my age, there is nothing wrong with my spine. When the mri was ordered, I asked should they not do the shoulder too and they did not do it. Now, instead of them doing the shoulder, I have asked for a full bone scan. Just get this all done and be done.

That is so dumb! You were there- IN the machine. They could have hit a few buttons and switched the view to the shoulder AFTER the spine. I HATE when they do this to people!
I don't know what a bone scan would show- well I guess it would show if you had any spots on your shoulder or arm, the MRI would have picked up anything on your spine. I still think you should see a neuro if it is still bad. They can do a test that measures your nerve reaction right from where you are having the pain. I forget the name of it. I had it done once- but it hurts a little because they give you these little zaps of electricity to see which nerve is causing all the pain.
I am really sorry you got no answer. I hope at least you got a script for a muscle relaxer!
    Take care.

    Hey Jan!

This is good news about the spine! While it doesn't help with your shoulder pain, it's got to feel good to know the ole spine is ok.

Now, to get that pain defined and addressed. I agree with Angela...it was ridiculous not to MRI the shoulder at the same time. What are these people thinking? Didn't your onc. understand the degree of pain you're having and wasn't the onc. the doc who prescribed the pain meds for it? SHEESH!!! What's a girl have to do to get these people thinking and working efficiently?. Like you've nothing better to do than make several trips when all the tests could have been accomplished in one trip!

Hang in, try not to pull your hair or thiers and keep us posted.

    Love, light and laughter,

Yes, it was the dumbest thing ever. I do not understand why they did not do them at the same time. I asked them to, I told the nurse who set the mri up to ask the onc wouldn't it make sense to do both, but, they did not order it.

I just demanded a total body bone scan. I am just over it, I have met my deductible, so good ole blue cross can pay a tad more.

Thank you all for your support. And, the funny thing is that my shoulder and neck are so much better today. It is like when you car is making a noise and everytime you take it to the mechanic, it will NOT make that noise. I had some pain today, but, nothing like the past few. But, this is the first time that I have taken meds to help with the pain. Maybe it is just a pulled muscle and the meds are helping it heal. I sure do hope so.

    Don't cha just hate tests?
