grade of lump

Hiya All
My worry at the moment is the grade of my lump which is a three and it was 11mm in size. I had chemo and rads, have lyphodema in arm and hand. My question is about recurrance as nobody has talked about this. Can anyone advise ?

    ok, to answer you, I have a couple of questions.

    You say that the grade is three, and that is the highest grade, or the most aggressive one, with their being hardly any cells that are still recognizable as breast cells in the specimen. My cancer is high nuc grade three, comedo subtype with extensive necrosis. The size of mine was 2.5 cm. So, the 11 mm is not huge. However, what stage is your cancer? Mine was a 0 as dcis. Recurrence is dependent on lots of things, or your chance of recurrence. What are the particulars of your cancer? Stage, treatment, etc. Jan

    My tumor was also Grade 3, the highest, which as already mentioned is the most aggressive. My tumor was larger than yours at 1.7 cm, so I too was concerned at this. However, I was told by my oncologist that the more important determinants are whether your cancer had spread to the lymph nodes (mine hadn't and I was therefore Stage I) and whether it was HR2neu postive (mine was not). Tumor grade is just one more fact to put in the hopper, so don't let this one thing get you too worried. Good luck.

    Hi epgnyc.... Was at the onco on Mon and asked about my grade of lump. It was 3 and had leaked from lymph knodes. I had partial mastectomy,chemo and rads.when I asked about recurrance, he siad that was why I went for check up regularly and he was keeping his eye on other boob ( that does not sound quite right does it lol)but, you know what I mean. We are now talking re-construction and for that I go next Thur. Thankyou so much for your reply. It has taken me this long to answer because I could not find the reply word to press! lol. I blame it on the chemo, my brain is numb!
