Pursuing new career

Hi All. A young man that is part of my community is battling hodgkins. All is going well. Outlook great. While he has been out of work, he has been contemplating pursuing a hobby and making it a career - mechanics. He is a HS dropout. I have been encouraging him to get his ged, and to then maybe pursue some technical school for some training. He had already been looking into this. My question - Can any of you offer any groups that he might check with that could help him with grants or school loans. He is 24, wife 22, children 2,3,and 4. I am presently sifting through all the results of a google search, which is going to take days. I was just hoping you might could help with a shortcut. Many thanks for your help.
