Hi Bunnie. I know absolutely nothing about alt. meds. What I have read about though is something called chemo sensitivity. It's a process where the lab takes a sample of your tumor and tests it with different chemo drugs to see what will work best at killing it. Perhaps you can push your doctors into finding out more about it so that you don't have to go thru treatments for no reason. Not too many labs can perform the test and I don't think it's widely used up to this point. Email me if you want more detail. I read about it after I had gone thru chemo and filed it away, but I'll dig it out for you.

Personally, I'm all for alt meds. I was diagnosed 6/2000 with breast cancer with bone mets 8/2001. Did the AC/Taxol thing and nearly died with the second treatment. White count went down to .5 got pneumonia and bronchitis. Faith in God plays a big part in my healing. Plus good diet (fruits and veggies), water, exercise, rest when I need it. The problem with alt meds is there is SO much out there and for some reason they do almost NO research, so we are on our own. I can tell you antioxidents are important, sugar makes cancer grow, oxygen slows it down, stress makes it worse...by the way this is just all personal opinion.
While we are on the subject; chemo makes NO sense to me. Unless you just happen to get the chemo designed for your specific tumor, as Susan said. Otherwise what does it do? Destroys the body's immune system, hoping to kill off cancer cells at the same time, just not logical to me. What does the body have left to fight with? Somehow I know there has to be a way to take our cancer cells, tag them as a vaccine, inject them back into the body, and stimulate a response. The body recognizes them as foreign and fights the cancer on it's own. Make sense? All I can say is chemo and radiation...poisen and burn is barbaric! I know there is something better, but the profit is not in the cure.
At any rate bunnie, yes I'm all for alt meds. Email me on the site if you want to talk more.
By the grace of God I'm still here stage 4 for 3 years. You can make it too!
    God bless.
