From Breast to Ovaries

In 2000 had b/c they said it was ductal only gave me 3 treatment of a/c and put me on tamoxfien, also had 17 lymph nodes + but that was all they siad i needed. In may of 2003 had hysterectomy and they found lobular cancer in both ovaries and now they say orignaly i had both ductal & lobular. Changed the tamoxfien to armidex haveing ct test done thurs. They say depends on what that says if i have to have more chemo. Was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Sorry this is so wordy i'm just scared again. I'm only 39 and seems like it's starting all over again. Thanks again, Shell

    No I don't have secondary cancer but had stage 3 agressive 11 out of 21 positive nodes. Take a deep a breath and maybe learn what you can about getting all you can from each and every breath, the Art of Breathing.
    I have learned so much from my fight for life and one thing is to truly understand what you have control over and what you do not. I am so glad you found this place to lay all you feel and face the fear within you. I am so sorry I was 36 at the time of my bc diagnosis. I fight for the quality in my life each and every day and sometimes getting up out of bed is the best that I could do. We are often times hard on ourselves comparing to what we once were instead of saving and centering all the energy we have. The best thing I ever did was talk about it and get all I felt out of me. That is a step in the right direction. We are here for you.

    I was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in 1997. I had 9 nodes positive. I went through a series of treatment for approximately 6 months. Everything fine until October 2002 when I had recurrence in my ovaries. Had complete hysterectomy and have been taking treatments of taxotere and carboplatin for 6 treatments. I am now on navelbine every week and off a week. Doing great and cancer is gone for now. This is just a brief history but hope it helps in some way. If I can help or answer any questions let me know. I check this board every day and sometimes go to chat room at night. You can beat this just hang tight and do all you can to keep positive spirits. All the best. Gadget

    Shell - I will be thinking of you all day Thursday. I can't imagine how scared you must be, to have to go through this all again. That is all of our worst fears. I will be sending you positive thoughts all day. Smile Cammie

    Could I ask you girls something? I also had Stage III b/c in 2000, reoccurance 6/02. Another mastectomy. My question is: how did you know you had the cancer in the ovaries? Did you have any discomfort in any way? If it wasn't for the hysterectomy, would you have known? I have had so much pain in my ovaries and had an ob/gyn exam, ultrasound and internal ultrasound. It pretty much just measured the size of my ovaries. I have just been assuming that my period is trying to come back. It came back one time in December. I am sorry Shell about your circumstances. I have learned through the years, that you really have to be well informed and be your own advocate. Please get Dr. Susan Love's Breast Cancer book. It the bible for breast cancer. I researched everything, everywhere I could before I had gotten my first mastectomy.

    Does anyone know why the lobular would not have come up on the pathology report from the original mastectomy?

    Yes, that doesn't make much sense. I don't understand the treatment plan they chose.
